Title: Where can I get a large print job done?
Post by: crayolé on April 25, 2010, 06:20:41 pm
I have hundreds of pages I need to print from multiple word files (practice exams)

Where would be the cheapest place to print them off and how much am I looking at approximately?

i was gonna print them elsewhere, but if you buy your ink off ebay, then it is probably just as cheap to do it at home...

it can probably do ~4-5 pages a minute.  nothing great, but it's not too bad.

ink off ebay is cheap as.  you can get 3 of each colour (so 12 inks in total) for <$30

I've got a laser printer, but when the catridge finished I never bought a new one again. There like $110.

Haha I print off my stuff at school- the printer there is SO GOOD, also it prints double sided so you don't waste too much paper :P We used to have a printing balance but I don't think it works- I have $0 and it still prints out 574893 for me :D

This.

And the black ink costs way more than the colour.

Yeah i got a $500 shoddy inkjet at home, dont know why mum always bought the expensive ones that do the same as a cheap ass printer.
Cartriges are like $30 for just one too, and there are 4 cartridges :s
I'll start buying them on ebay now ;D

I tried to do that but because I write so big, it wasn't really the best option for me so I went:

1.  Two pages/page
2.  Double sided (did this by flipping the paper each time).

I know number 2 might be a little excessive, but I reckon that warm fuzzy feeling afterwards was worth it lol.

Also, a little side note here.  See why education is bad for you and the environment?  I want to boycott education.  :P

LOL I think I'm going to have to buy at least 20 ink cartridges to print out all those prac exams, and I already use like one a month. ;)

Or start investing in a laser printer.  You don't need the best laser printer out there on the market.  Just a decent black and white one will do.  :)  You'll rely on it in VCE and you'll rely on it when you're uni, provided you want to print out the lecture notes.

I rely on a printer that uses colour as well as black when printing out grayscale... so it's rather expensive.

You could buy cheap inks online (my ones are $5 each). Normally the original distributor ones are expensive- original one for mine cost $30(HP, lenmark, brother). So I can buy 6 unbranded ink catridges for 1 branded. They work the same.

Do you get yours on ebay? Yeah, mine are waay too expensive, and each separate coloured ink cartridge (one colour only) costs like $25 and they constantly need replacing as well as the black.

I get mine at officeworks - lol I don't really mind, I just print out like all this stuff anyway, then later, I realise that I've just wasted a whole ink cartridge. :P

Yeah, that's what one of my friends did last year.  Although, I have to say that it depends which store because that same person tried at one store and they refused because they didn't want to spend all day printing so many pages.  Doesn't make much sense if you ask me.

So I can just go in with my USB and ask them to print out the Chemistry exams for me?? It would be the Officeworks at Fountain Gate, if that helps

I know for sure the Clayton store will happily do it, they have tonnes of printers there.

If you want the cheapest of all, buy refills. Basically they have a kit that gives you a syringe and ink. Drill a hole, squirt the ink in, seal the hole and your done. Its like $3?
