Well, exams are pretty soon and Ive got a massive workload.
I cant decide how to break it up. (Study for just methods, Study for Methods + All Other SACS, Study for Exams + All SACs)
I've got 5 upcoming SACs, Methods is the one I'm worried about most, cause I'm kind of lazy methods wise and not super mathematically talented either. I only really want to pass. (Got about 65% on the last SAC and just passed the other one)
That's the SAC I'm most concerned about. The others i think i could do with minimal study (IT, English, Bio) couple hours each maybe, Chem might need a little more study.
Its like this:
Monday - IT Starts
Tuesday - Methods Part 1
IT Continues
Wednesday - ??
Thursday - Bio SAC
Methods Part 2
IT Continues
Friday - ??
They haven't told us when our chem SAC is, its sometime this week, wednesday is a double, im betting its then.
English Language don't know when this is but the time line says this week ( we dont really follow it). They have to hold it during semester 1 though right, cause on some study summaries it says "Semester 1 SACs 22% Semester 2 SACs 22%"
So, Anyway as i see it, i have three choices:
Option A) Study only for methods SAC
Option B) Study for methods SAC + All Other SACs
Option C) Study for methods SAC + All other SACs + Exams
Option D) Study Mainly for exams (probably just pass or just fail the meth sac and do pretty decentish in the rest.)
I realise not studying at all for exams would be reckless but in the first 2 options i wont make them the majority of my focus and i can still study for them once the majority of my SACs are over (Thursday night i guess..). I'd like to study for everything but it would give everything a whole lot less chunk of time. Eg i could spend 5 hours purely on methods or with option C.. itd be more like half an hour - hour.
Keep in mind also my school reckons i should finish revising for exams by this monday coming up (31st) and start doing practice exams. Probably a good idea. Ive done bio revision off and on for a while, only really starting to focus extra hard right now, chemistry ive barely touched but theres not much theory to learn i reckon, more doing heaps and heaps of practice questions.
What do you guys think?
-
Yeah i know the joke option is funny but i have to wear pants to school now... damn judge... Some advice would be nice though?
-
exams are far more important..
-
Dude exams can save u or break you... they are your priority at this stage, a couple of average sac scores are not going to make u phail VCE.. It pretty much comes down to the exam.
-
Oh ok thanks guys. Really appreciate the advice :D.
-
Realised there should of been an option D so i reset them all, with the advice im getting i reckon ill go with D.
-
deffz worry about exams, the rest can take a hike!
-
Oh wow that's heaps. My school had a cut-off date for SACs which was last Friday.
-
Yeah i know its messed up and we still haven't finished learning our courses yet...
-
Lol >.< I honestly did not expect stuff to be this tight for midyears. Our school hasn't finished course for Physics and Chem yet >.< like wtf.
-
Me either man. Took me by total surprise, i thought i would of revised a lot more by now but i had some things going on and it just didn't eventuate. Oh well, no use complaining about what holds you back, just work hard and do the best you can with the time you have. We still have 2 weeks its a very long time if you really utilise your time.
-
I'd choose B. Chances if you try studying for your SACs and the exams at the same time you won't get much benefit out of either. First study for the SACs and get those out the way, then cram massively for the exams.
-
Do you get any days off to prepare for exams?
If so, I'd suggest cramming for SACs then just take your last week before mid-year exams and spend every waking moment doing practice exams. (Even if you don't get days off to prepare for exams you can just call in sick or something, haha).
-
I cant take any days off this week because i got a SAC pretty much everyday and we haven't finished the course yet...not sure if its a good idea to miss out on teaching.
Next week (Which is the week before exams) we finish early Thursday and get Friday off, there are only 3 days between Friday and my first exam...much too late to be studying then i reckon.
The SACs are this week and this week is the week im supposed to be cramming hence the problem... :D

On the upside (or downside) my methods SAC is moved to thursday and the following monday. 2 period SAC. Its good and bad. I get more time to study and do well but i thought i would kind of get it over with today and show up tomorrow (the original date) do shit and just get it over and done with.
Now however i have more time to study for it... which will rob my exam/other sac time too.
No english SAC till next term & Chem is friday. So my situation is slightly better than i thought i guess.

We get heaps of notice of our SAC dates. Weeks, even months for some.
Do a bit of everything. I find that even 15 minutes of rereading notes gives a better mark than when something is 100% winged.
-
Yeah, i find that too.
I like to use this kind of reasoning - More studying cant hurt or make me any less well off for the task and 99% chance it will help me and get a higher mark. So even an extra 15 minutes will make a difference.
Its sort of like in terms of scoring points - more work=more points.. well thats how i like to think about it

Lucky. My school is so disorgranised, sometimes they give less than a week's notice :|
-
I've had that as well...Tuesday... hey guys... chem sac thursday..
-
Yeah i have a similar problem.
My plan is to study for SACs and try and do at least 1 prac exam for chem a day until the exam.
-
After tomorrow I can pretty much do 1 prac exam for Chem and Physics a day
-
Oh well i spent heaps of time at methods tutor today but didnt get much else done :/
-
Well at least my school has pushed back the methods sac.
Now ive only got chem, english, chinese this week. And spesh next week..
