Hey guys, just curious to know how you guys are going on your praccys.
I started off pretty shocking with like 50/80, I'm up to around 70-75 /80 in general now, but i do occasionally drop back to mid-high 60s. Obviously I'm trying to get as high up as possible but yeah I keep losing silly marks ::)
How about you? :D
-
Depends there are times when i get high 90's others when i get high 80's.
Depends on how much i choose to read the question and not make my own up as I go. Or even better... work out the multiple choice.... then circle the wrong answer! wow i love doing that.
-
average i wud say about 60%
-
when i do them at like 11pm, i tend to drop a few shitty marks.
-
90-99% At the start had a couple in the 80's though.
-
like 49% for physics....havent even started accounting yet. just curious, do u guys include reading time when u do ur exam coz i just start straight on
-
I vary from high 80s to high 90s also. Sometimes I vague out and do stupid stuff. I usually go better in real tests though. Don't really have any motivation to do well on a practice test...
-
my motivation is to beat my multi-personality-tied self.

RTFQ (Stonecolds Mantra!)
-
started off with a few 50's (yes, wow i know very shit)
then moved up to 60s-70s, just got 80ish on my last one.
hopefully i can maintain that!
-
I'm staying around the 80% mark now for each exam I do....
Hopefully I can still get it a bit higher before Wednesday
-
Averaging about 84-87%
-
depends . it really varies
vcaa ones .. about 80-95%
although i did a lisachem ( learning materials ) one and got 98% .. whilst on the tsfx one i only got about 60% ..... :)
-
Haven't done any VCAA ones yet...but i keep losing 10-15 marks each paper, not happy :(
-
I've been doing practice exams for 3 weeks now and i've averaged b/n 84-90%
-
*sighs* this thread is depressing, all you 'i'm averaging above 90%' people.
my range is from 60-88%.
-
80 - 95%
-
liv, don't worry im not either;)
don't feel too bad, im averaging about 70ish
-
The trial exams this year were abit harder than the previous year ones
-
how do u people seriously manage to get 90's..??
-
Yep, on neap ones. They're the easiest!
-
Practise, especially with Stoich, know the content well, and focus on the tricks that are likely to appear.
AND most prominently RTFQ! haha...
-
I think *people like us* get 90 because we have a sense for what each question is asking and don't really have to think so much about it.
-
RTFQ stands for?
I'm only worried about managing my time on the exam :(
-
wud that be coz of alot of practice..?? how many exam papers u rekon u did so far..??
-
now i've hit 8 or 9 i've lost count.
-
15 exams :( Too little and it's too late!
-
read the f***ing question ;p
Umm, probably around 15... in my eyes, it is all about limiting dumb mistakes more so than anything else...

^^
I normally lose like 5 marks on each paper because of mis-reading the question or just reading it too quickly.

Yep. First couple of exams should identify which areas you need to revise, then it's basically stupid errors with some of the more extraneous or subtle concepts of the course.

totally agree.
I too am around the 15-20 mark, getting repetitive now but I am not going to stop, I have CSE o go still (saving the bomb for tuesday)
-
Oh man just dropped 69% because I lost 9 marks in a row on one question in Lisachem 2010 lmao.
-
lolz that exam was *good* as in not hard but easy to make huge mistakes.
-
did everyone get 100 for the sample exam?? lol i got 99% >.<
-
I'm going to do it now...
-
=/ My most fail exam was Insight 2010 where I dropped 13 marks
-
did everyone get 100 for the sample exam?? lol i got 99% >.<
Yeah everyone got 100 in the sample exam, so you got lower than everyone, so you get a study score of 1.
-
WTF Lisachem 09. Since when are we required to be economists....
Other than that, good exam...
-
=/ My most fail exam was Insight 2010 where I dropped 13 marks
haha i lost like 10 on that one>< which was good compared to my school where i got the highest by almost 20% (only a few people got in the 60s too) o_o
-
started around mid 80's now probs average 88-95%
-
A small number of low res photos of my current stack of trial exam papers it may not seem much but that is more than 200 pages (it's thicker than the tsfx notes and the textbook)
the classpad is there for scale.

really VCAA should can exams because of the disastrous effect on the environment.
-
I thought that was the 2010 VCAA paper for a second and I was like WTF! haha.
And i'll see your pile and raise it about another 300 pages :P
-
no that's my databook (inside is hiding the official exam that you stole and sent me ;)
remember that everything is doublesided and I haven't counted, 200 pages is a large number I am saying.
-
Ah okay, well if it's double sided then it matches mine.
I'm too lazy for double sided, plus I hate when you can see shit on the other side of the page...
And don't go around announcing on a forum that we have the exam, they'll all find out! Shhh! :P
-

Yeah everyone got 100 in the sample exam, so you got lower than everyone, so you get a study score of 1.
I lost two marks :(

I've been sleeping with them hoping that they somehow send their wisdom to my brain overnight.

-
I'm going to do it now...

Lol dev - You trying to learn through diffusion? =P

I seriously pray for a challenging exam. It makes me concentrate harder. When they are easy, my mind wanders and the stupid mistakes creep in. :(

osmosis? (i don't do biol so correct me if I am wrong but isn't osmosis where it goes through a membrane)

Once again I agrre with this 100%, it also means that a small mistake isn't going to affect much, either (BTW i seem to be agreeing with you on everything you say here.)
-
I hope it's a really hard exam. I doubt it'll be though.
Does anyone know if you can afford to drop marks to get a 50? And if so, how many? I really hate to harp on about scores, but what sort of marks do you need for 48+?
-
I think you can lose one mark and still get a 50.
-
One mark across the whole year?!
-
Last year jimmy lost 5 marks across both papers for 49 apparently.
-
think he lost 6.. didn't he ?
first exam 5?
second exam 1?
-
I thought it was 4 marks on exam 1 and then 1 mark on exam 2. Probably wrong though. But last year isn't any kind of measuring stick unfortunately. Unless the one of the exams this year has some ridiculously low A+ cut off, then my guess would be max. 3 marks lost over both exams for 50.
For me, 45 is a minimum goal. Anything less and I'll be very disappointed. 48+ would be awesome.
-
It was 5 and 1 for jimmy for 49 raw. link.......
-
you definitely don't need full marks on both exams to get a 50, and for 45+ you can get two mid A+'s (depending the A+ range) and still make it depending on your SAC ranking.
-
i got 88% for sample one..man i feel soo dumb :S

Yeah I just woke up and I feel like I'm more knowledgeable about redox titrations.
