-
It depends on what the reason is.

Special consideration for the exam?
If you managed complete the exam, then you are actually not eligible for special consideration.

Look, you still have a good chance of passing the subject, the exam's not worth 100%... but yeh, I agree that you should still try to find an alternative that may somehow benefit you.. hmm.. any evidence that something extreme has happened prior to the exam?
Hint: Med cert...

Monash's special consideration policy
The accepted causes are:
* acute illness – e.g. hospital admission, serious injury, severe asthma, severe anxiety or depression. This does not include minor illness such as a mild cold.
* loss or bereavement – e.g. death of a close family member, family relationship breakdown.
* hardship/trauma – e.g. victim of crime, sudden loss of income or employment, severe disruption to domestic arrangements.
In addition,
* those students demonstrating relevant obligations to military or jury service or service to emergency services such as the Country Fire Authority, and
* elite athletes registered with Monash Sport's athlete support program participating in a key event
will be eligible to apply for special consideration.
So unless you did badly because you were sick and couldn't finish it...
Also see here:
http://www.monash.edu.au/exams/special-consideration.html
Note there's only an application for a deferred final examination.
However it does say the closing date is 2 days after your final exam, so I have no idea, really. I only have one friend who applied and received a deferred examination. I also have a friend who got 49 in a subject, applied for a viewing of her paper/remarking and got rejected (she's pissed, lol)

Hmm... maybe I shouldn't have tried to get out of jury duty after all...
'Sit an exam? Sorry, no can do... have to go to court and listen to a crazy man's explanation of how he didn't stab his enemy, but how he "fell onto his enemy with his knife in his hand and accidentally pierced him with it."'
(That last part is a true story actually... it was a county court case I sat in on during VCE... he also denied throwing a coffee cup... in a similar fashion to the knife, the coffee cup "slipped from his hands as he was walking, flew across the room, and smashed into the wall next to his enemy".)

hmmph well my problem is family issues. as much as i love to go to a psychiatrist for family problems, i would rather go to the doctors on monday and grab him to write a letter to monash. i guess i'll do that on friday after my 3rd last exam.

Just make sure it fits the criteria:

2. Supporting Documentation
2.1 The completed application form and supporting documentation are to be submitted to the relevant office (see 1.1). The completed cover sheet will be stamped or signed by the relevant faculty or student service centre staff and returned to the student to provide a record of submission.
2.2 Supporting documentation must be provided and can include one or more of the following:
2.2.1 evidence provided by medical practitioners. Medical certificates must state that the student was unfit to sit the examination on the relevant date or unable to complete work for assessment on or before the relevant date. Where a student has applied for special consideration or deffered final assessment in more than one semester, the faculty is entitled to seek from the student the details of specific medical conditions suffered.
2.2.2 evidence provided by other professionals who are registered with a professional body, such as social workers, lawyers and psychologists. Where possible, such certificates must state that the student was unfit or unable to sit the examination on the relevant date or complete work for assessment on or before the relevant date. Where a student has applied for special consideration or deferred final assessment in more than one semester, the faculty is entitled to seek from the student the details of specific conditions suffered.
2.2.3 death notice or certificate.
2.2.4 a police report.
2.2.5 statutory declarations from students or relevant people.
2.2.6 notification including the start and finish dates of Defence Reserve Service from the Defence Reservist’s Military Unit.
2.2.7 notification of jury service commitments from the Juries Commissioner’s Office.
2.2.8 notification of obligations to emergency services from organisations such as the Country Fire Authority.
2.2.9 notification of participation in a key sporting event from Monash Sport’s elite athlete support program.
2.3 If a Board of Examiners suspects that the Medical Practitioner has acted improperly, the matter should be reported to the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Education).
2.4 Students must ensure that all evidence related to the case is submitted with the application.
2.5 The Board of Examiners or delegate will assess the application in light of all evidence available to the Board.

We studied a case in criminal law where the guy actually got off murder and only got manslaughter. He was robbing a milk bar with a knife in his hand. The milk bar owner got stabbed. He claimed he was merely waving it at him and the owner "walked into the knife himself". The court believed him.
What is this I don't even -_-

make sure your GP indicates that the poor health occured prior to the exam.

okay. so this is what i need if im correct.
a letter from my letter stating that i was conciously unfit for and prior to the exam( i did not hand in 2 assignments for accounting + management but all prior ones are HD to D standard) .
a letter from myself stating my situation
a letter from a relative/family stating my current situation.
i would rather not sit a deferred exam as well. =S . cheers

whaaaat so if i get 40% on my exam for example, and my other assessments are so high that my average is way above 50%, does that mean i pass the subject? or do i automatically fail due to failing the exam ?
:O

I'm not sure there's any other option? There was nothing on the Monash special consideration website about working out your marks any other way.
I don't think it's like VCE - there are no derived scores AFAIK.

It's different for every subject. Depends on if your subject's exam is a hurdle requirement.
