Title: History of Industrial Relations
Post by: Aqualim on August 14, 2010, 11:22:29 am
Ok, so i've looked through a couple of references of notes and have found they all include the history of both the decentralised and centralised employee relations. After having a quick browse through the study design, there is nothing which mentions we have to know the history of it. Do we need it at all? or is it just to familiarise ourselves with the idea of decentralised and centralised systems of industrial relations?

I'm pretty sure we only need to know the outline of a centralised and decentralised system, be able to distinguish the differences, and know which Acts/Legislation's each belong to.

There's nothing you need to know in relation to actual events such as the "pre-1991 centralised award system". It's just for some general knowledge and as you've already said, to distinguish and familiarise the concept of the system
