Title: Special Relativity
Post by: Shark 774 on August 14, 2010, 09:52:54 pm
Hey guys.

I'm in year 11 and am going to do 3/4 physics next year (I am doing 1/2 this year). I am really interested in special relativity and I wanted to know if anybody is doing it as their detailed study? I would really love to do relativity, but I know my class will be doing 'materials and their use in structures'. Do you think it would it be possible to do special relativity by myself if I get a good understanding of it this year, or is the class time with a teacher helping you just too vital?

Thanks guys!

Look, special relativity in VCE doesn't deal with much of the actual principles of relativity properly, so you can probably just learn the formulae.

Great! Well just out of personal interest I hope to try and fully understand it before next year anyway, so I might give it a shot then.

Thanks for the reply!

FWIW, my father is legitimately the biggest Physics Nerd on the planet. He was teaching me theory harder than the Special Relativity we cover next year prior to year 7.
