Just a heads up for anyone that is planning to do a UMEP subject in the future.
As of next year, UoM will be introducing a fee for their UMEP program, just like the MUEP program currentely does, apparentely it is ~$400. So yea, i don't know if this changes anything for you, or changes your mind about the school centre you want to do it at because some schools charge an extra fee, where as others do not charge a fee at all.
As you apply for the program, you will recieve a list of all the school that offer the UMEP subjects and how much extra (if any) they charge to run the program.
Just something to look out for :)

Yea, Ms Michelle was actually asking the class about it this week, she wanted to get our opinion of whether or not this would have changed our mind about doing umep maths at MGGS seeing as they charge and extra $330 where as some school don't charge at all..... Not sure what that mean for umep at mggs........

Doesn't matter - I'd personally still go there because I love maths at MGGS! :) And $730 is reasonable, not expensive or anything.

You'd be surprised. For CSP students, maths and some science subjects are the least expensive due to it being a national priority and hence being subsidised heavily by the government.

That's true but the new fee kicked in for my year of UMEP.
Looking on the bright side, at least I'm in the last year where increments of 4.0, 5.0 and 5.5 are given out. :)

Yeah, they're considerably cheaper than studying law/med/comm subjects. But still, UMEP is awesome so it's worth it!

that was the only reason why I thought MUEP was more "lenient" than UMEP (from what I've heard lol)
or has it got to do with Melb Uni being more prestigious or other factors? :S

Around how many students get into UMEP maths altogether? And is it a disadvantage if you haven't done any methods 3 4 yet?

mmmmm well according to my lecturere they're going to introduce it next year...... this dosen't affect US anyway......

I read an article on this too. Physics at Scotch College is still listed as TBA, but I'm intending to do it regardless. It's either that or, shock, Business Management 3&4! Fuck that shit.

yeah, this is cos Dr Boybell (the guys who takes it) is like...... 60+ years old (he still runs like half marathons tho......) and has been teaching at scotch for no joke like 30 years. He still takes uni physics and year 10/11 physics but can;t take 3/4/ cos i dunno apaz he's got soemthign to do with the vcaa?

Well, hopefully he'll hang around for atleast 1 more year :) Or atleast have UoM offer UMEP Physics on campus.

mmmm dr B is an amazing techer tho.... just ask appianway if you atn to find out mroe abotu UMEP physics at scotch, she'll be able to give you a bette idea of his teachings seeing as she's doing it this year. I only have second hand reports from my friends that have been taught/ are taught by him
