Title: Exam Marks For Study Scores
Post by: Galvanic Cell on September 25, 2010, 10:07:43 am
Hello,
Im currently doing the following subjects
English
Methods
Chem
Physics
Revolutions

For my mid year results I got an A for physics and B for chem...

My problem is, my chemistry teacher doesnt really teach us at all...and Revolutions is just a silly subject and I havent put in near enough work for it throughout they year
However I have put alot of work into maths and english...

I would really like 85 for my ATAR to get into the Uni course i would like...is this still within reach and what sort of marks would I need for my  end of year exams?
( i have been getting good sac marks-but go to a very small school)

Yeah get A's in both physics and chem again and you'll be looking for respective scores of about 33 and 37, and if you can get 38 in methods and 40 in english, along with 25-30 in revs, you are pretty set for 85

A sixth subject, even if you got like 25, will push you above 90 :)

thanks,

two A's for physics will only get me a 33? :/
i would pick up an extra subject if i could haha...
what exam marks would i be needing for methods and english do you think?

for English, aim for A+ in the exam to be safe.

Ah sorry two A's for physics would get you 37, an A and a B would get you 33.

Push for the A+ in physics though, a 40 score would add alot to your ATAR.

Methods exam one you should aim for a high A, exam 2 a low A+/high A. Low A+ should get you ~40, and high A will get you that 38.

English just do heaps of practise pieces and hope for about 8/10+ on each of your essays (you can submit them here and people will mark for you)

With Eng, Phys and Methods at 40, and chem at 35, with revs at 25, you could get up to 94, which is a very respectable score.

what Study score (raw) do you think i will get, im in a relativeley strong cohort (sac marks go up only a bit, but never go down)

PHYSICS

UNIT 3
SAC 1 = 34/40
SAC 2 = 29/30
SAC 3 = 29/30
EXAM 1 = A (very close to A+ grrr )

UNIT 4
SAC 1 =38/40
SAC 2 = 30/30
sac 3 = 29/30 (aim, not actually done it yet)
EXAM 2 = A+ (hopefully very strong A+)

CHEM
Unit 3
SAC 1 45/50
SAC 2 22/25
SAC 3 23/25
EXAM UNIT 3 A (very high A)

Unit 4
SAC 1 48/50
SAC 2 23/25
SAC 3 24/25
EXAM unit 4, aiming for very high A+

any help would be great guys

Both will be relatively the same, I'd say 37~43

Not necessarily, you could potentially lose 10 marks and still get 40+ as a very high A and a low-mid A+ can still grasp a 40 (for both subjects)

to be completely honest
for an 85 .. you wouldnt need as high scores as they are telling you .. however for 85-90+ yyou defs will..

but
if you get A-A+ on chem .. youll get 35 ish raw
A-A+ physics ... 37-41 raw
then you could literaly get .. 33 in english , 35 in revs , 20 in methods .. 30 in 6th subject
and youll have 85+ ..

use enter calc .. http://atarcalc.com/

Have you considered doing a University Enhancement Subject then?

This is done outside of school hours, so it will not affect your timetable.

And even if you do horribly bad in it, the lowest increment you will get is a 4.0

Do really well, and you can be sure to get a 5.0 or a 5.5 added to your aggregate.
