:smitten:
Is anyone else finding that Further plays perfectly to their mathematical strengths?
I never thought there was a subject that I am so suited to. I'm just very happy I picked it up this year after not doing GMB last year.
Does anyone else love Further? Does anyone hate it?
-
I hate it. I did general maths last year and I HATED it. In particular, networks which was super ambiguous. The only solid topic was measurement.
-
lol, the only good part in Further is Financial Math, and it's pretty basic. :P Further is like dark side of math, it's boring. :P
-
for the record AppleXY wishes to learn more about financial Math while doing COMMERCE on his MACINTOSH at the UNIVERSITY OF MELBOURNE.
-
i really like this subject i thinks it suits my mathematical strengths aswell. It's not too challenging which suits me wonderfully
-
Further Maths is completely distinct from methods and specialist in that 'hardcore' topics such as algebra and calculus are more or less omitted. You don't have to necessarily be a maths person in order to ace further.

That will be the ultimate orgasmic experience for him :P.

Yeh true that, i thought bout that today if i had the chance again i would do further in year 11 rather than legal studies

Our SAC that we are doing at the moment is F**KED!!!
This subject is so bloody easy but we are dealing with 3 bloody geographical regions and C02 emissions and GNI (Gross National Income) and because I use TI 89 I was unable to graph my residuals and sketch them so I've lost like 9 marks (something is wrong with my calculator, it says undefined even though the column is called "resid").
I don't really care. This stupid SAC can go r**t itself.
It doesn't help that we are working with 72 numbers that are to two decimal places and then another 36 numbers that are to 4 decimal places. This whole SAC is F**Ked i tell you.
-
yeh im doing a similar sac now, but now its not too bad just ridiculously time consuming like writing 2 -3 pages of conclusions from the tests u have carried out. I seriously wonder how it relates to maths at all. Oh well only 3 more periods to go yay
-
writing is the stupidest part of it
-
SUPER SAIYAN!!! =)
-
what a waste of a thread... further is not fun lol... its just a bludge subject :)
-
thats nice odette soooooo does anyone know around how important this sac is in terms of %. I was thinking around 50% of unit 3, coz its a big boy
-

gotta love it!

Lol i'm not 100% sure on this but i think its 40% of your total sac mark, then its about 20% for each module you do :) ...btw further maths isnt divided into unit 3 and unit 4... =P
-
isn't it divided, i didn't know that, that sounds bout right 40% for sac mark and the rest 20%. Wow it certainly is an important sac then
-
Not really... because your exams count for like 66% of your mark don't they? And your exam mark moderates your SACS...

Yeah, it's definitely worth 40% of the SAC allocation.
-
Nick: to get 34, what marks did you roughly get on your SACS?
-
wow i really didnt think that. thats massive, hope i do aswell as i think i will
-
Nick: to get 34, what marks did you roughly get on your SACS?
My marks went like this:
GA 1: A
GA 2: B
GA 3: B+
Not too bad for someone who basically did nothing in Further all year.

Yeah exam marks do moderate your sacs, but i was saying that the core sac was worth 40% and 20% for each module sac of your total SAC mark

Yeh I know but I was saying in the whole scheme of things it is not the be all and end all. =)

no
but you do want to have (and maintain) a good ranking.
