hey all, ive had trial exams this week and apparently my sac scores will be altered in accordance to how i go :(
is this still possible or are they screwing me around to get me to study?
-
are you sure they didn't mean the real vcaa exams, not trial ones?
-
im 100% sure. my principal is a douche :(
depending on my results my ranking is getting changed, sac results everything. which is made worse by the fact that judging from the exams ive done so far, theyre picking the most difficult ones possible! my methods one was harder than itute

yeah i've heard the same thing to. My eco teacher at the start of the year was like ' people im not gonna rank you according to your SAC results but rather your practice exam results at the end of the year. This is because if say at the end of the year you rank last but end up getting top mark at school then VCAA will simply say this teacher was an idiot and scale where appropriate'
My methods teacher on the other hand was like dont rely on SAC results to get you good marks. If two people at the end of year get the same exam result then the person with the higher SAC mark will get a study score 1 or 2 higher so there is not much difference.
-
wtf, i'm sorry but that's messed up. can they even do that to you?
-
that's messed up.
But I want to do that. :P
-
They could, if they wanted. I don't think they're allowed, but they certainly could.
But it could only be for unit 4 SAC marks, because the unit 3 ones were (supposed to be) sent in several weeks ago.
-
but i guess they have a point... like seriously if u get A+ on exams and D for SACS im sure VCAA would think something fishy happened. Since VCAA set external exams im pretty sure they would trust their marks than the schools. Even a teacher i had at a lecture was like as a teacher teaching english i try my best to get my students the best possible SAC marks. Say for example they are B+ to A student i would try my best to get them to an A standard by debating against other teachers

well thats my conundrum right now
my bio sac mark is about 92%-96%, do i think ill get that on the super super hard exam they game me? no. i honestly dont think ill get 80%. so right now im looking at the prospect of having my super high SAC mark dropped to <80% :( is that fair?

if you where close to the top on the rankings, you'll most likely remain there. do you think students who where at the bottom of the choert will get high marks on this "hard" exam? Don't worry too much about it.
-
they dont send your mark in they send a ranking.
-
well 1 and 2 rankings are between me and another girl, the rest of my cohort is really weak (as in C+ average in midyear), does that change anything?
-
no, you and that girl will most likely achieve higher results than the rest of your cohert on this exam. Even if, lets say you're sick on the day, bomb out completely, i don't believe your teacher would put you at the bottom of the cohert considering your sac ranking and mid year results.
stop worrying, start studying
-
sounds like a plan :D
-
they dont send your mark in they send a ranking.
Actually, the school only sends a raw score; from this VCAA deduces rankings. But, that is fairly trivial..

my bad, then as long as you are rank 1 or 2 you are fine

well i got my results back, mixed though
i only got 65-70% in both bio/chem, but got the highest score in bio, chem, physics, 2nd in methods and still dont have my english results :)
umm....good or bad thing people?

Good relative to your cohort, but maybe bad relative to the state...

true that, the chem is what im most disappointed with, i found it very easy, expected 85%+ :S
bio was ridiculously hard though, 7 marks based off a diagram of STRs -_-

meh, my methods teacher scales the sacs so the spesh kids can't lose. i hope vcaa just looks at it and says it is not good enough. i'll be writing them a letter once school is done anyway.

that sounds ridiculous! im most proud of my methods result because i beat all the spesh people aside from one who is a maths genius and is most likely getting 45+ in both maths :o
