So what are you guys getting on exam 1?
So far i've done the 2008 vcaa and the 07 vcaa, 36 and 37 respectively. This would be a very low A+ im guessing?
-
Im leaving vcaa 07 and 08 to the days before exams, but for with the other company ones ive done i started off by getting mid 30's mainly stupid mistakes... after doing around 5 started getting like 38's yet to achieve a 40 :(
-
Does anyone else think Exam 1 is trickier than exam 2?
-
yes and no. exam1 s easier to lose marks because its so easy to see an answer that matches yours but you havent completely answered he question.
exam 2 isnt that bad, most questions are pretty clear cut but there are some real dodgy questions at times.
i think its more important to do well in exam 1
-
exam 1 is easier
exam 1 ive only gotten 40/40 once,
i've been ranging around 34-38 mainly
and exam 2 im doing ok like 47-54/60 terrible

I just did 2006, picked out the wrong sequence for the first number patterns question >.<

leaving vcaa till last

trig, matrices and business maths.
trig can be tricky though its pretty basic stuff haha, and business maths is far too boring><
what about you?
-
btw, how are you guys foing your practice exams? Do you guys do exam 1 consecutively? or do you guys do exam 1 and then 2 in order?
-
btw, how are you guys going your practice exams? Do you guys do exam 1 consecutively? or do you guys exam 1 and then 2?
I do them consecutively, i did a whole heap of exam 2s, i only touched an exam one a couple of days ago, tbh i thought exam 1 wasn't really necessary, i though if i could do exam 2, then i could do exam 1. I told my teacher this and she was outraged and told me to do them so i did.

But does exam 2 relate to exam 1? Don't they normally put areas that have been omitted in exam 1 in exam 2?

Well our school's doing patterns, trig and business but I'm doing matrices instead of business because I hate it >.<
haha yea trig can be a pain sometimes, but very fun to work on because it's trig! and not business maths :p

lol yeah, i realized that after doing exam 1s.

What would a 39/40 and 59/60 equate to in SS (06)?

O.k...back to methods for me :p know what I got wrong on exam 1? picked the wrong sequence for arithmetic >.< so stupid lol

Good luck mate! I hope we do well on the exams :)
-
Generally it is 1 mark per SS at the high 40's yea?
-
what about sac ranking? how important is it. I reckon i can drop 2 mark on exam 1 and 2 on exam 2. but my sacs are shit
-
Hmm I think you must be rank 1 to do well
-
stonecold's mate got 50 with rank 6...i suppose it takes perfection in the exam.thats it
-
Nooooooo! Just did an insight one. Got 31/40. -sigh- I suck at the Core component. How do you guys do exams? Do you guys do one after the other?
-

I usually do pretty well on the core, i usually lose marks on the linear and networks modules. I do whatever exam i feel like.
-
I lost 7 marks in the Core component. LOL
-
exam 1 is great losing like 7 marks over all most on stupid mistakes such as rounding and i still ham yet to get a hold of the three median line technique so if that come up witch i am 90% sure it will i am screwed
lol
-
got 39/40 for tssm 2010
and did it at 2 this morning xD
q11 on core i screwed..
dont know how but..
explanation to it would be nice?

B yeah?
You just find the median of the last 5 values.
-
i'd say B as well,
i'm guessing you found the mean instead of median causing the confusion or something?
easy mistake to make.
speaking of easy mistakes in reference to exam 1, i keep dropping MULTIPLE marks from silly mistakes. and the silly mistake always results in one of the answers they have there to throw you off. resulting in major fail.
just can't win.
-
Further is the only subject in which i didn't make silly mistakes on my first practice exams...which is weird ><
-
howd you get it?
i dont think im working it out right..
arggghhh
-
The final value of the smoothed data is the looking at the last 5 numbers on that table, and finding the median of those 5.
So the smallest number of those is december, and then november and then september, whereby the value is 155, therefore answer is B... make sense?
-
OHHHHH
i get it..
i wasnt reading the FINAL smoothed data bit correctly..
my bad
i was working it out fine
just didnt understand why it was that one
thanks a bunch! :D
-
Aiming for 40+ but I'm scared about exam 1. I make sooo many silly mistakes and to get an A+ in exam one you need pretty much 36/40. Obviously its different every year but that seems around the mark.
Oh and last year a student in our school was ranked 13th in SACS and got 50 in further... so anything is possible, its all about the exams as if you do well, your SAC marks will get pushed up anyway.

I can never crack 40/40.
Maybe thats because i haven't factored in checking time. but meh, ill do it on the day.

I was so close on the 07 one lol, I got robbed because I didn't understand wth the question was saying.
Don't worry, I'm sure you'll be fine, we'll all be expecting your solutions after the exam btw :D
-
.... yeah.... i really don't want to do that for any of my subjects, ill get depressed for a whole month thinking that I got a question wrong

Up to you...but we will always welcome your insightful contribution!
And I know what you mean, but my urge to check out VN always has me reading about the exams ><

Depends how I feel

I've never got 40/40 either.
