Title: Dog breeds and evolution

ok the question is from lisachem 2005, and follows:
Figure 2 shows several breeds of dog that have been domesticated from wolves (pic is just several dog breeds)
The breeds of dog shown are the result of:
A divergent evolution
B adaptive radiation
C artificial selection
D gene cloning





I chose A just thinking of all the choices they'd given me it was the best option. answer is C which i find arguable seeing as selective breeding of certain dogs only began about 100 years ago, so how is it relevant to evolution from a wolf ancestor? i even disagree with my answer A because dog breeds are not of different species as they can interbreed, so what is the best answer of this/method of solving?

Wouldnt it be C because divergent evolution suggest speciation has occured

It looks like the keyword in the stem was 'domesticated' which was supposed to lead you to artificial selection.
Probably not the strongest question in my opinion.
