So this is the problem now, many of you guys would know that Specs Paper 2 starts during late afternoon.
Would studying in the morning of that day be recommended? A little worried that it would cause a slight tiredness and cost me a couple of points in the real test, seeing that I always muck simple things up.
So would cramming more in the morning be more beneficial or goofing around and staying relaxed.
P.S. I've already been studying for quite abit over the last month and got most of the course covered.
IM open to all opinions =P
-
Im probs gonna sleep in a bit, bum around at home for a while and go into school early to catch the guys walking out of further all pissed
-
whatever you do its not going to make much of a difference.

Sounds good to me =P

I think it depends on how your are....
Some people will be fine come afternoon, like for me I'm like living death in the morning, but really perk up so I'm quite thrilled to do afternoon exams, where as my friend is the complete opposite.
If you are quite alert in the afternoons I think you would be fine, to cram a few concepts and then just read some summaries and do gentle revision for the rest of the day, or if you find yourself quite lethargic, make sure you get plenty of sleep, and then just do gentle revision, you could even revise in the morning and take a nap early afternoon to make sure you're alert.
I don't think say doing an exam will help, and could stress you out leading to losing beneficial marks that you normally would not lose.

i dont really see the point in studying on the day really
1. you work yourself up and shit yourself
2. you forget it all in the rush of the exam. For example in english, i learnt all these big ass words etc the morning and night before exam. Yet when i got in the exam all of it flew out of my already empty head and i wrote to my ability a month ago. The only subject i can think of it being useful are humanities subjects such as history when dates and quotes are essential.
-
May as well study other stuff, so as not to waste the day totally. I'm planning on doing a methods exam and an accounting exam on Monday, but no spesh.
-
fap fap fap

I wouldn't do much on the day of the exam, because face it by that point you're either ready or not... one more prac exam wont help you in that respect
Also, id sleep in a little.
One of the reasons you get tired is because a chemical builds up more and more in your brain with each waking hour, so it stands to reason (i understand this is obvious) the longer you're awake, the more tired you will become. So i dont think its a good idea waking up like 4am to study or anything. For my biology exam, which was at 3pm, i woke up around 12ish i think....

Hahah agreed.

You should do a few questions during the day to get into the "maths" mood. But sleep in I reckon and relax for most of the day.
My bus man one last year was at 3 and I found it really helpful having done some questions earlier in the day.
NOT a full practice exam. Just maybe 5 questions.
Hope that helps. Good luck!

Don't eat too much for lunch. You don't want to stimulate your parasympathetic nervous system, leaving you sleepy
-
I think your blood sugar drops around that time... not sure...
I progressively ate a large bag of skittles though before my 3pm IT exam last year
-
the bio exam was 3pm the other day. just have a usual day, dont do too much study but some light revision will help.
watch a movie, that helps keep you calm. just revise/study/do prac exams a few days before hand so as exam day approaches you dont have to do as much.

I've found for afternoon exams, that it was best if I went an hour early (no stress about being late), and just flicked through my notes to get me in the zone. If you're well-prepared, then I think it's a bad idea to try to do any last minute study before the exam.

Maybe its just me, but sometimes i find if i go early, it builds up more pressure, cause people might start speculating whats going to be on the exam, or you feel anxious waiting until the exam.
So far for English and Spesh 1 i rocked up around 10mins before exam time. LOL

Yeah, i try avoid people... most of my mates start freaking out before exams... aint good for the confidence i've built up...
I get to the area around my school like an hour or two early, just hang around the shops then walk to school so i got about 15 minutes before the exam

Ah... see... it had the opposite effect on me. It probably has something to do with my personality. It helped me to know that I wasn't the only one who was stressed/nervous. The whole "Omg I'm so nervous!" "Me too!" thing actually helped me to calm my nerves a little. I didn't even mind talking to the completely depressed "I'm going to fail" people because it made me think, "Well... at least I'm going to do better than them."
Also: I had a 5km walk to school... I walk pretty fast, so it always got the blood pumping ...I liked a bit of a rest afterward instead of having to go straight into an exam.
-
Well depends if i know im going to do well in the exam id probably steer away from people who are going to collapse into a total mess of stress after ive spent so long preparing and trying to build up my confidence but if i think im going to do bad, id probably hang around them and have a good old fashioned winge
This is what i was kind of talking about before

Sleep to your hearts content (usually wake up around 1-ish)
Have a huge brunch with lots of eggs
Catch bus to school with a few study notes on the ride although that would most probably do nothing
-
Id go for a run and get my parents to do a few chores. Gets you active ridding yourself of any apathy. Then get your tutor/dad to watch you do a few questions that are hard to make sure any lazy working is absolutely blasted by them.

So does that consider day-light savings or not? =/
-
O wow thanks guys for those advice (for the most part =P).
will prob just sleep in and turn up to the exam w/o studying on that day itself, as I tend to get tired really quickly when I study.
Best of luck to all ^^

Ideally...I should wake up at 2pm

Youd be kind of sleepy straight after waking up
I think its from some guys book so id take it with a grain of salt (the diagram)
I don't think daylight savings would affect it exactly its more sunlight and things like that

wish the dumb EL exam wasn't so late... i just want it over and done with. I have looked forward to the day for years where I no longer have to worry about anything remotely english related!
-
EL isnt terribly hard, i've always seen (at least at my school) if you toss in a bunch of metalanguage and concepts, if you half decently know how to do them and construct a coherent essay, you're set.
I'm just thankful i dont have two exams in a row in one day or too many 9 am starts (2/6)
-
i dnno with you .. but if i sleep in i wake up all drowsy and tired... i dont think ill b able to do that.. mayb in teh morning just do 1 spesh exam.. and then just relax
-
does drinking V before the exam help..?? especially knowing that i am gonna be too drained to do an exam at 3pm

Yes, if you wanna go to the toilet during your exam and blow 5 minutes
-

+1
Realistically though, I'll have to get up ~1:00 at the latest =[
But I like the idea of watching a movie - will be a great distraction, so afterwards I can concentrate even more. I dunno, sounds like a paradox, but it works.

Yes...
It contains a shit load of caffeine and stuff which will shoot out of your body.
Energy drinks are stupid.
-
Its as much caffeine as a cup of coffee.
Red bull is nice, alternatively you could get those small energy drink shots.
They contain the same amount of caffeine but much less water so you don't have to go to the toilet after having them.
You could always also pick up some nodoz from the pharmacy but they seem to keep me awake in a different way from energy drinks.

Man when I had nodoz I went nuts, honestly don't have one before an exam...
-
Nodoz for all nighter gaming (Y)
-
caffeine is a diuretic so regardless of whether or not theres much volume of other fluids in the can itll drag out the water already stored in the muscles and organs of your body.
-
Just make sure you've tried these energy drinks before. The once and only time I've tried, I couldn't sleep for 2 nights in a row... Def's not what u want in this period of time.
That they work for someone doesn't mean they would work the same for another.

bio was at 3pm, and I found a movie calms the nerves, I watched Tropic Thunder
Ideally, I would have wanted the middle session: sleep in a bit, but you also don't worry about the exam for like 5 hours before

Hmmm might watch Big Bang Theory :D even though my exam is easy

last year i had an exam in the afternoon, but got to school at 8 cause i couldn't get dropped off any other time. i spent the day reading (for fun) in the library, spoke to my teacher briefly, spent, like, 5 minutes looking up one last thing, sending emails, then i went and visited the little kids in the primary school, helped them with their readers, and watched the start of chicken little before going to my exam, and got an a plus.
basically if you've prepared well don't bother to study in the morning. it's not going to help much. maybe flick through some stuff to get 'in the zone' but that's all.

True, I find that when i try and remember more things on the morning before the exam, I tend to forget more.

might watch V for Vendetta before English language to help my flow. That guy can talk. Plus natalie portman is kinda hot.
