I'm pretty sure i got like 24/40
hope for a B?
what do you think cutoffs will be?
-
A+ will be around 36-37 I think :/ I screwed up just about all of q11 = -5 marks :/
-
generally according to the past statistics, thats a mid B, but it really depends on how everyone else in the state goes
given that it is mid B, give or take it should be the same grade. congrats!
-

consequential marks ..if you still used you h in the first question and subbed it in
-
Last year's A+ cutoff was about 37...since this year I think was slightly harder, so maybe 35-36? Especially given not many people will have succesfully answered the cone/cylinder question.
-
lets hope A+ cut off is from 34 onwards .... coz from comparing my answers and looking at the uploaded exam again...I think I either lost 5 or 6 marks...SIGH CARELESS MISTAKES will haunt me for life now T.T
-
Would a High A+ Sac, mid A's paper 1, High A+ Paper 2 still get me into the 40's? Or I can kiss my uni course goodbye....
Worst I've ever done in a maths test.. ever... I got a higher mark the 1st time I did a practice paper... FML
-
anyone know that on the qns for g(x)=f(f(x)) if i forgot to square it so i got x^2 instead of X^4 and then in the next question would i get consequential marks for working out inverse then evaluating g-1(16) = 4 instead of 2? anyone?

Prob not. Since it was only a 1 mark question, they would be looking for just the answer.

FML LOL THERE GOES TWO EASY MARKS FROM STUPID MISTAKES :( SHATTERED THERE GOES MY A+ PROBS TOO :(
-
36/40
77/80
98/100
study score?
-
probs around 46
-
probs around 45
Linkage, what do you think A+ cutoff might be?

Linkage, what do you think A+ cutoff might be?
Around 35, probably.
-
CUT OFF WILL BE around 20/40. vcaa won this round... monday round 2
-
btw exam one is weighted equal or less than exam 2??
-
Cut off will be about 36. A tad harder than last year's exam.
Well not harder, but alot of the state will not be able to do the last question, and they will get the value for B on the probability question wrong due to mistakes to do with the variance and the "less than"
-
I'm deeply praying I get at least 2/5 marks for that last Q
-
btw exam one is weighted equal or less than exam 2??
I think exam one is 22% and exam 2 is 44%. So for anyone who screwed exam 1 don't stress too much because exam 2 counts twice as much! So anyone can redeem themselves haha.
-
OMG, i totally forgot this exam is worth 22%.
-
i hate exam 2s with a passion.
-
thing is i think ill do worse on exam 2 :P
so DAMN
-
i... love... exam 2's :)
jokes i get like 50% on them
-
i hate exam 2s with a passion.
I like it more just cos of the security of having the calc and notes if you get stuck. While with exam 1 there's nothing to hide behind haha.
I wonder if exam 2 will be easier or harder. I'm thinking it should be easier because our exam one was harder than previous years.
-
I don't know if you can really say well... this exam is easier so the next one will be harder...
They wrote these exams like last year

I wouldnt be surprised if it was just as hard. Spesh exam 1 was harder than probably the last 3 years and they showed us no mercy with exam 2 either.
-
It will be harder. The spesh exam 1 was harder than last years, and the spesh exam 2 was insane. You can expect it to be the same for methods.
-
i hate exam 2s with a passion.
man i hate them aswell... and i hate working with calculatorss.. i think exam 2 will b tough
-
wast further a tad more difficult as well this year?
Im seeing a worrying patern.
Methods 2 is going to be insane. =/
-

If you drop your calculator walking into the exam and it doesn't turn on...

I did this too... realised on the way out fml
-
I think a+ cutoff will be around 35. There was lots of room for errors with large numbers/fractions and it seems heaps of people struggled with the last question.

shitt!!!.. god forbid that from happening
-
Someones stopped working during out year 11 exams... you could hear his whining eco through the hall
-
GOODBYE 40+!!!!!!!! Fuck you vcaa
Fkk i put in so much effort the whole year and a single exam paper fucks up my life . FML
-
only 22% of your mark, you still got time :D
-
Yeahbut spesh is just GONE and bio was the biggest joke. Stupid silly mistakes :(:( ohhh well
-
Hopefully 35/40. If that is the case, I'll be able to just scrape in...
-
hey people, what is 31 set to get me? low-A?
-
hey people, what is 31 set to get me? low-A?
High B+ or a low A, depending on how this year's cohort went. Still a good chance for 35+

Psh stop being mean
You can get up to 43 with a B+, so chin up :D

Sigh Same here... 33-35/40 -.- Worst I've ever done on practice papers was 37/40, thats including the 1st paper I've done and all those Kilbaha and Mav's.. FML Whyyy this on the real exam =/
-
thanks all :) and dont worry id rather hear the worst scenario than get everythign sugar coated.
btw im using the '07 marking scheme to estimate a grade, is that an ok reference seeing as this years was the most difficult since?
-
What raw study score do you think an A for GA1 30/40 for GA2 and a 65/80 for GA3 would get me?
I know i hate these posts as well but i am kinda anxious about stuffing up today :S
-
sounds like a 41 to me, but im no expert
-
omg stupid mistakes cost me!!! i was averaging like 36-38 for the last 6 papers i did and I stuff up in this exam! FML goodbye 40 RAW!
-
OMG I THINK I COULD GET AN A! And I thought I was gonna do so bad.. like I would've been happy with 22.
-
i think we also got to keep in mind that everyone does cas this year
so a way bigger cohort
so past results are probably not indicative??
hopefully theres more dropdicks out there :P
-
So how many people did CAS last year?
-
i dunno
but it was split between the old methods and the cas course
-
Anyone know what an 11/40 will be??? I totally failed hardcore, fml. :'(
-
could someone please help me, i think i got 21/40, would this be a C? im one of the dropkicks that will hopefully boost all of your grades :)
-

lol same here.
-

hmm..a D?
have no idea, but that would be my guess.
-

Last year it was a high D+, but given the difficulty of this years Exam 1 you may well break into C territory...
-

Should be C+ i think.

cool thanks. hope you're right!

if 11 is a C
then whats a B+ ??
high 20's ?
-

high 20's ?
High B- low B+ probs
-
I got 27ish. What sorta grade is that?
-
hehe same ^
-
The last question on the paper was the most random shit ever!!! I've got 40/40 for every VCAA tech free from 2006, and ironically the one that counts is where my streak ends...
Also if you use the same h value (which was wrong) for parts (b) and (c), do you get full marks for the correct method or do you lose them because the answer's incorrect.
-
35/40 for A+? err the whole cone of death shiz was worth 5 marks. Im guessing most peeps got that wrong. Then there is the other mistakes people are gonna make for sure so i think we might see cut-off dip below mid-30's this year. (Ok im dreaming..lets hope it comes true) :D
-
surely u get some consequetional for that one. soo many ppl will have 0 otherwise. wat would a b for sacs and b for both exams get as ss
-
Hopefully 35/40. If that is the case, I'll be able to just scrape in...
I hope so too!! I lost around 5 marks as well. Hope Exam 2 will compensate my exam 1 marks.... should really go and study if I want that to happen. But I can't be bothered right now..

I'm just gonna sit here crying.
-
Does that mean 34 would be a high A? It was a low on previous years
-
Don't forgot Mao's Study Score Estimator Guys
Just search for the latest grade distributions in google, like this or use 2007 since it was a hard exam
-
well using mr mao's calculator and going off 2007 means and s.d. (a+ cut off was 34.5)
25 SS = 12/23
26 SS = 13/26
27 SS = 14/29
28 SS = 16/32
29 SS = 17/35
30 SS = 19/38
31 SS = 21/41
32 SS = 22/44
33 SS = 24/47
34 SS = 25/50
35 SS = 27/53
36 SS = 28/56
37 SS = 30/59
38 SS = 31/62
39 SS = 32/65
40 SS = 34/67
41 SS = 35/70
42 SS = 36/72
43 SS = 37/74
44 SS = 38/76
45 SS = 39/77
46 SS = 39.5/78
47 SS+ = 40/80
second numbers are the doubled score
-
wow. for real??
-
raw?
-
yep, but ill edit in a minute to put in half marks :)
ps: all raw
-
But how can you predict your SS without exam 2
-
But it really comes down to how you go in exam 2. So we all gotta ace it! :P
-
this years exam has gotten me depressed....
-
would this be assuming simliar marks in exam 2 as well?
-
whats the A+ cut off for exam 2 usually?
-
Usually around 70/80. But if it's a really difficult exam it might go down to 65/80.
-
LOOOOL no chance for me then
i always make mistakes in section 1 and section 2s just bla

I think this is calculated with a constant exam 2 score and sac mark.
It also depends on what you get in those.
If people were interested, i'd encourage them to try the calculator for themselves. You know what you have gotten in SAC's and you also know what you got in exam 1 roughly.
For SAC's i'd probably use 2009 data (doesn't change heaps year to year), Exam 1 2007 data maybe, Exam 2 2007 if you think itll be hard exam or 2008/2009 if you think itll be same standard as those years.
(2008&2009 data is remarkably similar for exams, so close together)
-
this is the SS purely from only exam 1. unless identical scores in GA 1 and GA3 occur, then different a SS
-
You cant get an SS from purely one GA?
All three make up an SS
-
lol i know, its just so people who know roughly what that score equals compared to an equally difficult exam
-
how much are people thinking methods will scale up this year?
-

Hoping 6 or more. lol

consequential marks ..if you still used you h in the first question and subbed it in
that's what i did, i got the wrong answer for the H, but accidentally got it wrong because my multiplication error. Will i be able to still consequential marks for the rest of it?
-
I'd say
A+ = 68 - 80
A = 59 - 67
