Virtual private network is like a network designed over a WAN to mimic a LAN, in terms of security, access hierarchy etc. Therefore, it allows secure communication over long distances, and can be achieved through a secured forum with username/password access.
Sorry not the best definition, but I'm pretty sure thats what it is.
Virtual team advantages:
- Allows for communication despite geographical differences
- Allows for all type of people to collaboratively work on a task (e.g. Personnel with disabilities such as an inability to walk can still contribute)
- A more process orientated business
- Time is saved as no need to travel to work, etc...
Virtual team disadvantages:
- Difficulty in communication due to time and geographical differences
- Applying and controlling file management strategies, e.g. Hard to determine who is working on the most current file
- Lack of face-to-face communication may result in poor team harmony/collaboration
Don't stress man :D
