i had trouble as well until i realised modern business ethics are expected to include a sense of social responsibility that is why the line between the two is so vague.

Simplistically
social responsibility is a concern for society at large
and ethics is the application of moral standards to organisational behaviour for the benefit of itself

therefore modern businesses in there implementation of ethics to improve there businesses act socially responsible....

hope that makes sense.......

not really but thanks i sorta get what both have to do with,
social-above legal responsibilities
ethical-what is morally right
but i dont understand how to apply it and thus ensuring i dont get confused half way through.

It is ethical for a company to remunerate their workers and provide a clean safe working environment, it is socially responsible for the company to reward staff through performance appraisals, and provide redundancy packages for those who are dismissed (due to structural reasons)

Aren't redundancy packages usually predetermined in the contract?

Okay another question, is there a difference between the law and ethics?
