Thats still some memory you got there man.
Very few question were ambiguous or unclear i think. Most were fairly clear cut.
The one where it asked if it was a strategic objective or a tactical objective threw me though... what did you guys select?
-
strategic objective, it said over 6 years.
-
Yeah i thought so.
I didn't realise it said 6 untill someone talked to me on the way out.
I thought since it doesn't change the organisation dramatically it was tactical, oh well.
-
same, I thought tactical at first but then saw the 6 years.
-
You guys find any other multiple choice unclear or hard
-
The UPS preventive one.
I chose weather.. because in prevention, i thought by checking the weather, and being aware of a disaster, you can turn off your computer before it happens thus preventing it. But apparently, not according to my teacher. There was another tricky one, but I can't remember. Just so pissed at my carelessness
-
What was question 14? I can't seem to remember...
-
Well i think that was just put in there to distract people.
I mean it is preventative i guess... you'd know when the weather would strike but its not always practical to turn a computer off. Imagine if google turned off every time there was a thunderstorm.
Someone would also have to sit there constantly watching the weather day and night, UPS does it all on its own.

Yeah, I only thought about that after exams.
-
How did you copy it down?
-
Probably on the back of the place card
-
This
-
Place card? Is that the sticker?
-
Yep
-
Oh, didn't know you could take that lol
-
Only got three different from the starter poster. I'm happy with that.

One of mine is wrong anyway for sure, i put tactical instead of strategic

Is that question 14?
I cannot remember it for the life of me. Nor can anyone I ask...-.--
-
I dont know the number sorry man
-
DANG! can't wait for mark kelly now.
-
How long does he usually take?
-
I don't know. Hopefully not long. My teacher said he doesn't have a life/family or what not and IT is his life....
-
His slide shows are funny though and not too much of a drag... kicks the ass of how we learn in class...
Last year he took awhile for software but thats because he couldnt find a copy of the paper.
I doubt it would take longer than a week.
-
Is there a way we can get a copy of the paper?
-
You could of asked the inviligators (the guys that walk around the exam room from vcaa) for a spare copy before you left but that ship has already sailed...
We have to wait for someone to upload it or just wait for mark kelly to do it
-
I don't know. Hopefully not long. My teacher said he doesn't have a life/family or what not and IT is his life....
I'm sure that he would have a dog.
-
yea, our teacher said that, but he only said it after we told him how great mark kelly is.
Answers are up btw, kelly's site.
-
The financial report one? what was the answer? I think I said D because of the numeric right alignment
and gah I think I chose 'strategic GOAL' because it said something about market shares by 20% over 6 years, but it wasn't giving a way of actually increasing them, it was just like a goal they wanted to achieve?
or am I way off D:
-

Where are they? :S
-
He was joking. Dumb poo head. I'll slap him.
-
Man he's funny lollllllll!
Maybe I just have too much faith in Mark Kelly :$
Summyx, I put objective strategic.. I was also going to put goal because it seemed too broad but.. it had numbers, so I wasn't sure!
-

That's what I was thinking, but like it didn't seem very specific. It wasn't saying much about how to increase market shares, just that they wanted to increase market shares by 20% so I went for goal D: I'm still unsure of whether I was right or not.

It was objective becuase it was measurable.
-
strategic objective, it said over 6 years.
Wait isn't it a goal? Because of the 6 years???
-

That's what I think. An objective can't take 6 years can it? that's why I'm stuck on goal.
-
Damn I hated these questions..
-
maybe both will be marked right since vcaa are !@#$ed. such ambiguous questions.
-
Objectives are vague and general.
Goals are clear, concise and usually have numbers eg %20 market penetration
OTHER WAY AROUND, MY BAD GUYS....
-
.. I thought it was the other way around?
-
.. I thought it was the other way around?
definitely
-
SO WHAT DID YOU GUYS WRITE LOL STRATEGIC GOAL YES?
-
Strategic objective
-
kingpomba you wrote strategic goal?
-
anywway seems like i got that one wrong....

i got 8 14 and 20 differnt than the first post. have you corrected since or do you think i have 3 wrong?
-
^ 20 was definitely C :)
-
Can I just ask, where do you guys actually right down your multiple choice answers?
-
Correct me if I am wrong here, but wouldn't the objective be to create a website to improve market share? Therefore it's a strategic goal?
-
14) D
...
i got 8 14 and 20 differnt than the first post. have you corrected since or do you think i have 3 wrong?
I got 14 as D as well. I'm sure that was the goal and objective question. Which I believe I got right.
Correct me if I am wrong here, but wouldn't the objective be to create a website to improve market share? Therefore it's a strategic goal?
If that was the information given, yes. However there was another statement saying that it was in improve something by 20%, making it an objective.
-
Yeh, but it said the goal was to improve something by 20% not HOW they will improve it.
-
It's definitely an objective - my teacher confirmed it. The reason for this is that objectives often contain numbers (e.g. cut emissions 12% next year) while goals are more broad (become carbon neutral by 2014.)
-
Yeh, but it said the goal was to improve something by 20% not HOW they will improve it.
Yeah but objectives are things that can be measured, in which this case you can. I think? not sure how market works.
-
The market share relates to the entire company, making it strategic. Following on from my previous post, the measurable number (20%) would make it as I chose a strategic *objective.*
-
Yeh, but it said the goal was to improve something by 20% not HOW they will improve it.
Goal is "improve market share."
Objective is "develop a website and with it, increase market share by 20%."
Development of the website is a objective in reaching that goal.
-
ambiguous
-
its definetly objective. VCAA past exams objective has been quantitative such as 2% increase
where goal is qualatative such as improve customer service
BUT WHAT IS 8 i have D and that conflicts with the first guy haha what is 8 anyway
-
We will see when VCAA come out with their answers in like 6 months lol. However I do see te ambiguity of the question though probably unlikely that it's a goal. Oh well. fingers crossed. Cant complain with 18/20.
-
kingpomba you wrote strategic goal?
I wrote tactical objective.
Correct answer was strategic objective.
The financial report one? what was the answer? I think I said D because of the numeric right alignment
I chose this.
The other two options A and B while valid for anything, didnt mention anything about numbers... this is a finanical report it tends to have numbers.,
This left two options one with left aligned numbers or right aligned.
Left aligned breaks convention, therefore it was the right aligned one.
-
Nyone else choose CCTV? For the best method to prevent
-
you're monitoring what they do on the computer with files
For the CCTV thing to work you'd have to point it directly at the screen somehow and heaps of hours of video footage to watch over
Keyboard swipe makes more sense
-
Oh and I clearly use my printer manual to take precautions in an electrical storm lawls XD
-
I bet in the examiners report, some people would of still actually picked that option
-
But how would that detect unauthorised access? There is no way of knowing with a keyboard swipe
-
Keyboard swipe as i interpret means you have like a special keycard, like you use for hotels or other things like that.
You swipe it in the keyboard i guess and type in your password. Two layers of authorisation.
I know thats a shitty reason but i think its a bit better than the other alternatives
-
Now that I remember it was detect, not prevent
-
Oh well now I'm in doubt well they'll be plenty of debate amongst the teachers though lol
-
Yeah, the term "keyboard swipe" doesn't really exist, by the way. :P
All methods except for the CCTV are PREVENTATIVE, though one could argue that browsing through firewall logs could pick out whether or not someone's trying to log in illegally. Still, it's easy to see CCTV footage of someone who's not the usual user trying to log into a computer... it doesn't need to be pointing directly at the screen.
-
The keyboard swipe question was really dodgy, and I hope that question is struck out. I picked the keyboard swipe thing because I couldn't see the other solutions fitting what the question asked for. Then again, I hope Mark Kelly will make a big fuss about it in his post-mortem...
Out of curiosity, when do VCAA usually put the exam papers online?
-

That, and keycards contain passwords in their little black trip thingies. Furthermore, even if you at a CCTV right in front of a screen it wouldn't be able to capture what was happening due to flicker/etc. Cameras can't record screens, except HD ones (CCTV is VHS.)
I think 'detect' wasn't necessarily 'after' the unauthorised access. When I read the question I saw it as detect-as-it-happens.
