This exam should be harder than previous exams due to the demands of deeper analysis etc of questions. However it could also be easier as it is the first paper off the new study design. What do you guys think ?
-
Probably just means you can get 1 more mark wrong on exam and get a 50, doubt it'll affect scaling much?
You could check how it changed between the 05/06 SD change because it went from 50-60 or something.
-
I just checked, in 2005 there was no change (until you got 40 then it went up by 1) and in 2006 it DROPPED from 30 to 25, 35 to 31 and 40 to 37. WTF!! HELL NO THIS AINT HAPPENING FOR THIS STUDY DESIGN
-
Let's be honest, you won't be getting below 45
-
I'm not even aiming that high (I think I need at least a 37) but I'll get whatever I put into this subject (which is not that much to be honest)
-
Hope so, but i highly doubt it.
BTW Avo if ur not gonna get 45+ Im really worried how tough it actually is to get into the 40's.

I tend to 'know' more busman when it comes to helping people on the forums (my study comprises of 80% VCEnotes.com browsing the busman board) but when I actually do exams I tend to pull mental blanks (a lot of the times) and can't answer the question without peeking at the solutions, it is a weird phenomenon

yeah avo maybe you're spending a bit too much time on vcenotes rather than studying your textbooks. I mean you do have 1032posts. hahaha
-
Precisely, and not 2 weeks ago my post count was 500. Damn the temptation :P

Scaling is determined by how the BM cohort performs in their other subjects. The difficulty of the exam or the new study design has no bearing on how much it gets scaled. All it does is change the brackets for A+ and so on, which I presume will mostly likely go down a little bit due to the 10 marker amongst other factors.
-
Hmm well from 2005 to 2006 was when they changed the marks from a max of 8 marks in a question to a max of 5 and the scaling went negative (from 0 change to -5 at worst). So if they decide to make it from 6 marks to a possible 10 mark question as well as increasing the difficulty and demand in each question, by logic won't that mean it will change (from -3 to anywhere from -2 and 0)? Just my thought, and yeah depends on how we perform in other subjects.
-
i really hope it doesn't scale down as much.. it would be devastating to get above 40 raw.. then only to find out that it's a thirty-something..
-
thats the reality of doing Bmg vwinne :)
-
Hopefully it doesn't but I am sure it will
I've been averaging around 59-62 in my practice exams (marked by teachers)
I really hope those sort of scores can get me an A+ >:(
In the exam..
-
IMO cutoff gonna be 55 or 56 so yea you are definitely A+
-
I'm more worried about 50 cutoff. 63?
-
We'll have a better judgement tomorrow
-
Mmm just very confused as to what I should do now. There is only so much redoing practice exams and reading notes a person can do. The 3pm start is too late as well.
-
Just relax and make sure you don't talk with anyone tomorrow b4 it starts (new concepts = bad idea)
