Do you want me to do solutions?
-
Do you want me to do solutions?
as long as u don't add kotter :)
-
I don't care, otherwise just an outline of what could be included should be fine
So everyone knows if they were on the right track for each question...
-
So it's been 5 hours....
I thought there would've been a debate by now?
Or are we all contempt with what we wrote?
-
OK did them just then quickly, can't be bothered going into detail because it differs with everybody.
1. a. A performance indicator is a statistic that measures how efficient or effective an organisation has been in achieving its objectives and how it operates. (You could have also added The performance indicator of Level of Sales could identify the reduction in customer numbers at Flyalot.)
b. First define stakeholder, for safe measure, then list any two and explain how. i.e. Shareholders because of a drop in sales.
c. HRM HR Planning to identify job needs and redundancies
OpMan Some strategy like a website that is low cost to replace staff.
Finance Pricing
Doesnt really matter, just make sure your function was not a management role, and that you justified the strategy.
d. Dependent on 3.
2. Autocratic due to crisis needing clear, quick communication and expert opinon. Persuasive is acceptable, in some scenarios consultative apparently is, if justified appropriately.
3. Divisional and something else. Then explain how a geographic based divisional would work better. That seems the most relevant however it is possible others would work too if justified. Remember that expansion will happen, outsourcing possibly so divisional would be useful.
4. Inputs Volunteers, buildings etc.
Processes collecting money and distributing
Outputs providing aid to children in need.
5. Strategies from Quality, new technology, layout and materials management.
i.e.
Quality Strategies like TQM or QC to ensure they meet customer expectations and are safe.
6. a. Define it, then explain how it gives them something to aspire to rararara.
b. Heaps here employer of choice, cut costs from rehiring etc.
c. discuss, so do pros&cons. Basically employees will be motivated to achieve the reward offered.
Financial bonuses.
Non-financial fringe benefits like company car, promotions.
d. Shortlist, interview, referee check, inform. Possibly employ on probationary term, but not needed. Then say how the process will help them reach goals.
7. The 10 marker
Define change and introduce your issue.
- Explain how it impacted the company you studied.
- Define restraining, identify some (at least 2) and how they affected.
- Define driving, identify some (at least 2) and how they affected.
- maybe state how restraining need to be overcome so change is successful, sum up how it was achieved.
* Kotter would not give any extra marks, nor would it take any away if you did all the above first.

well if that's worthy of a 50 then I am really really close!
Best of luck Burb, look forward to working with you (dependent on SS of course haha)

wow can't believe i didn't state the cons :S thats half of the marks right?
-
I don't think half. Not even certain it is a pro/con one?
-
If I got the management functions wrong (don't know why but I went with polc) however I suggested an appropriate strategy and justified 2 PI"s could I still get full marks for that second part?
-
Possibly. I remember reading some Assesment Reports where there were two part questions and consequential were not given, unsure how it will be done this year.
-

Our teacher/assessor said that even if you did eg. Planning and then a strategy, your strategy will still be counted, so you will only lose 2 marks :)

Biggest virtual high five right now

Biggest virtual high five right now
no worries, how much better does it feel when someone else relieves the stress haha

it's ridiculous. I was so stressed about those 4 marks haha. Now that I might scrape 2 of those 4 and hopefully get consequential marks for the performance indicator question I feel much better. Cheers mate

hey I mentioned that the benefits of Locke will provide HR will a more comprehensive performance appraisal for their employees which will now include their achievements of certain goals and the other benefit is a more developed recognise and reward program for employees, and those who have achieved certain goals will be rewarded. This will lead to improved productivity as employees will be continuously working to meet set standards , leading to productivity and improved morale. ( I explained this for both benefits and provided linking sentences to the case study)
You reckon this would be full marks?
-
for selection i didnt include all the things you wrote burberry
i spoke about making a specific job anaysis with job description nd specification to attract a qualified pool of applicants
spoke about how they may RECRUIT externally (ads etc)
THEN spoke about shortlisting....interviewing....and informing those applicants who did and did not get the job
nothing about refree checking
you think i'll get all marks?

Well AFAIK as long as you have a beginning, middle and end, you should be fine if you explained well, as there isn't a specific selection process across all books...
-
what study score would i be looking at?
SAC average = 88% or A+
Exam = 45/65 to 50/65?
thanks
:D
-
35-38 I spose
-
thank you :)
-
Selection =/= recruitment to the poster above. ( on phone can't quote properly)
-
but i wont loose marks to mentioned a recruitment technique wuld i ?
-
If the other stuff was worth the 5 marks, probably not. The examiner may deduct, but unsure. I'd assume a no.
-
the SELECTION process includes: screen applicants, develop short list, interviews, testing, reference checks, offer job to best applicant and thank unsuccessful applicants for their interest...
Job analysis is part of the recruitment process.
-
apparently the teachers are talking to the examiners about making functions and roles both correct :D
-
i doubt they'd get that result, but i really hope so.
i was one of those stupid people to talk about POLC rather than HR, operations lol
-
apparently the teachers are talking to the examiners about making functions and roles both correct :D
I doubt it. Students shouldn't get rewarded for misinterpretation.
-
yeah no way , its like saying that styles can be accepted when skills were asked. cannot be done mate
-
Even though i misinterpreted the question
I must say... why should you get the marks...
its unfortunate i stuffed it up but hey, my mistake not anyone elses.
-

exactly right. vcaa put in questions like that to separate the top and bottom students...
they won't just take it out because most people answered it incorrectly...
what they will do is outline the mistake in the examiners report :P

for the last qestion my teacher who marked papers said that 2 driviing ad 1 restraining forces were required plus an appropriate link with an org example to get 6 marks. the other 4 marks include definition of driv/rest forces, defination of org change, mention of how driv/rest forces effect change, and a statement on how driv/rest forces affected change at the exemplified org mentioned.
On another note, my teacher also said of the 400 papers she marked, only 2 scored 60 or above. A large proportion of results were between 25-40. If we take this sample as a consensus for the rest of the students, could you almost say that getting 60+ would get you a 50 (with a top SAC result as well)????
-
Congrats to those two people, at least. :P
-
It has also been confirmed that you need to provide specific structure eg matrix / team/ functional rather than tall or beauracratic structures :)

Wow thats scary :o

It was a compare and contrast one right? Didn't think there'd be enough information to C&C two specific structures, but oh well
-
Yeah you couldve listed their advantages and disadvantages as a way to compare and contrast
-
Yeah you couldve listed their advantages and disadvantages as a way to compare and contrast
You still needed to weigh the options and by just stating both advantages and disadvantages wouldn't have been enough (needed to clearly say which one was the better alternative i.e. in a conclusion).
-
yeah i did ;D

She also said that the compare and contrast question was poorly answered as the majority of students simply stated features, as opposed to comparing and contrastin features, which lead to no marks being awarded

Excuse my ignorance, but what question was that? :S
EDIT: Got it. Should have read the first page first!
