For the class if 2011 mainly - looking to see how you all will be using the holidays before yr 12? My plan was to balance the normal holiday activities by reading all English texts and starting notes on unit 3 for the other subjects.
You?
-
I'm pretty much like you. Hopefully finish reading my English texts before school starts and start on my Unit 3/4 subjects - making notes and reading through the textbooks. Though as you point out - all in moderation, I don't plan to be studying all holidays.
My 1/2 exams start tomorrow and goes for about a week, after that school finishes for me - I'll have a good break and then begin to study probably late December/or early January.
-
Chill mainly during dec, but after the first week or so of jan ill begin to briefly cover the contents of spesh and methods, read the texts, do some notes for chem and just revise everything for jap.
yeah my first 1/2 exam is friday. it's english :(
-
well my exams finish on Friday then we go straight into transition for 2 weeks so I'll have some maths to chew on for a while :D
I think I will probably chill for the first week in hols by doing absolutely nothing or catch up on some gaming then start Accounting, read my English text and get a bit ahead in Methods with my tutor
-
yeah my first 1/2 exam is friday. it's english :(
My school sets exams so they are like the real VCAA exams - hence, English being the first one. I have 4 exams in 2 days - English (i.e. 3 hour exam), Methods Exam 1 (1 hour), Biology and Methods Exam 2 (2 hours)... =\ I don't know why my school had to organise English and Methods on the same day.
-
Yep just gonna read all English novels and do some notes/holiday homework, nothing too amazing haha
The amount of work I do depends on my BM result I spose haha. Same for you Burbs?
-
yeah we do as well... its bloody shit.
Friday - 3 hr eng exam
Monday - 1 hr methods exam
Tuesday- 1.5hr(i ithink) Chem exam
Wednesday- 2hr Methods exam
Friday- 1,5hr jap exam
I mean half of them will be fairly straightforawrd for all the duds at my school, but its retarded how they have all the common/harder vce exams in 1 week.
Ouch! eng and meth exam same day... i feel for you.
-
=\ I don't know why my school had to organise English and Methods on the same day.
haha last semester I had English, Methods and GMA (tech-free) all on the same day then only one exam for each of the other days.
Similar thing happened to me this semester, tomorrow I will have Chemistry, GMA tech-active and Japanese :(
-

Nah I'll work the same regardless. A 45+ in BM will only affect me in confidence and the actual ATAR score, I wont work less or anything in the others due to it.
-
Im planning to finish the whole coursework of specialist and methods 3/4 over the holidays :D

Well it's more important for me, as I'm only doing 5 subjects + Uni Chem, so if I go bad in BM, then I have to do well in all my top 4!
As far as Exams:
Friday: BM 3/4
Monday: Chem
Tue: Methods 1
Wed: English & Methods 2
Thur: Ethics (RE), GMA and Physics
1 More day to go!!!
-
Im planning to finish the whole coursework of specialist and methods 3/4 over the holidays :D
do you mean actuall do exercises and stuff or just learn the content??
Also how can a schoool be stupid enough to schedule 3 exams one the same day... And those that are common.
-
My exams were/are:
- Accounting 3/4 - Nov 5
- English + Methods Exam 1 - Thursday
- Biology + Methods Exam 2 - Friday
- Chemistry - Monday
- Latin - Wednesday
- Legal Studies - Thursday
-
Everybody should try to pull off a TrueTears :P
-
What's that? Finish the whole course of everything?
-

2 weeks for the entire spesh and methods course (essentials textbook) if I remember correctly?
EDIT: he wasn't that quick haha
-
Oh I'm full of pokemon references - it integrated itself into my school and has become socially acceptable. Girl approving on that is pending though.
Wow, did it help?
-
yeah it allowed me to read the maths i wanted all through year 12, was so enjoyable, i spent every night reading awesome maths books :D
-
HAHAHAHAHA. I'm so sorry TrueTears LOL. I didn't mean to bring these questions upon you.
-
What's a goku?

That's exactly what I'm going to do - day and night (not too late though!), though not just reading and learning theory, problems as well :) Looking forward to it! I love the holidays.
-
Holidays = Study/Exermasize/OneGirl(JACKPOTWHAT?)/Family&Friends.
Thats for year 11 LOL.
Year 12.. Heh, I'mma pull off a TrueTears <3 (Saranghae/我爱你/Ես սիրում եմ քեզ/Iloveyou) TRUETEARS REPRESENT LOL.
-
I'm gonna do 20 hours of study every day and burn out before the start of the school year.
Though sleep does sound pretty tempting at the moment. =)
-
haha, i plan to just learn the new concepts and stuff lol
so did you just learn the content or actually do exercises and stuff?
-
4weeks break {overseas}
4weeks study {not continuous but generally}
Only Y11 so just Psych-focused.
-
Holidays...
Going to read all my English books about a dozen times, write a few essays.
Gonna have a dig at learning all Unit 3 English Language, just not sure how to go about that...
No idea what else to do for Indonesian, Outdoor Ed and Philosophy.
-
4 weeks overseas
+ 4 weeks starting on making biology notes cause im a slow rote learner :(

No Problem :)
-
@ONEREALSMARTASS
Maybe, just maybe.. he'll drink on the last night of work.. hence, seven days.
-
yeah i was thinking that...
-
by pulling a 'true tears' what exactly do you mean by that?
-
I'm gonna attempt to pull a TT for spesh...
Gonna take me much longer than 2 weeks though seeing as how I won't be spending 10hrs a day on it and that my mathematical ability is no match for his. :)
-
im gonna try for both meth and spes :D but only cover the content not complete all exercisesand stuff
-
My mini-checklist:
1. Finish methods (and exercises)
2. Finish spesh content (and some exercises)
3. Read through chem and physics
4. Thoroughly read English texts (english is the most important, and is what I suck the most at) -maybe even knock off some essays
4. Buy and finish COD Black Ops
5. Ditto for AS Brotherhood
6. Hang in the city with mates and watch plenty of movies (can't - and shouldn't - study all the time ;) )
7. Catch up on lots of sleep (damn you VCE!)

That's basically mine, minus all the maths :)
-
7. Catch up on lots of sleep (damn you VCE!)
Personally, I think it would be better to get into a routine sleep pattern wise. I'll be going to sleep and waking up at the exact times I want to when I start year 12.
-

yeah thats a good idea. how many hours sleep do you think will be suffice?? 8?

haha my sleeping pattern is terrible!
6:30 am wakeup, - shower + breakfast + coffee to REALLY wake me up
11~11:30 pm bedtime.
rinse and repeat.
I really rely on that morning coffee too much :(
-
I intend to study really rigorously on the holidays... especially when I find out my study scores. :)

I feel your pain, pal. Thats one of the things I'm trying to improve ):
-
My pattern:
2pm Wake-up. Earlier if I get a call or something
2:30 - Coffee, 2 toasts with Vegemite, Trout mousse and dolmades - religiously, every day. Usually while watching daytime TV crap like Dr. Phil or "the view"
3pm - Bike/Gym/Park/Footy/Swimming
6:30pm - SBS world news Australia, followed by 7 different news websites.
8pm - finally wake-up. Feeling energized and ready to tackle the world
10pm + none of your business ;)
Repeat

u eat vegemite..?? O.o .. i've tried it and i honestly dnno wats gud about it.. i really hate the taste.. or mayb its jst me :/
-
Lunch is now breakfast, dinner is now lunch and 1:00am is now dinner.
and I hope to get rid of a nice chunk of the start of each of my subjects for next year by the end of holidays... but i'll start that after christmas :) Also, I need to find a way to get myself away from 4chan before school starts :S

It's an acquired taste - only the most hardened brought up on a staple diet of yeast and raw Vitamin B find it easy to appreciate the sour taste. Almost all non-Australians that I have ever met look at me with disgust every time I recommend "Australian chocolate" (Yo man - WTF is this Shit?)
But ye - can't live without it. I even smuggle it overseas whenever I leave the country. ;)

Uleh, you have dolmades.. but vegemite?
WHAT KIND OF ETHNIC ARE YOU?
[jokes]

D:
Is vegemite actually healthy?
"What's so good about Vegemite? Vegemite is a nutritious and versatile food. In fact, it's one of the world's richest sources of B group vitamins."
[source: 4chan.]
[I keed - official vegemite website]
-
Really..?
Too bad my mum and dad never introduced me to Vegemite as a child. Don't think I will like the taste D:
Nutella ftw! :D
-
Nutella ftw! :D
haha.. yeh dats right!
-
Someone coming back from Paris gave me a white chocolate spread :smitten:
Chavi: vegemite, trout mouse and dolmades *together*? That's more random than my sister's favoured peanut butter and egg combination
I sometimes get incredulous looks when I profess my liking of tonic water and hot and sour soup (not together). And older types with more conventional tastebuds when they come across Miso soup.
-
It's quite random - but with access to every culture and every imaginable food, I can sample tastes that I like, and create a symphony of flavour for breakfast.
Now has anyone ever tried eating Sabich with Panta bhat, topped off with pesto and soy sauce? You sir? How about you sir? Anyone? No. Well I huess this gives you a small insight into my eclectic taste.
-
vegemite is essentially pure grime
-
speaking of breakfast
crushed weetbix + yoghurt = delish breakfast

Well back on topic -
-Read over unit 3 Biology and Chemistry
-Chemistry questions
-Review unit 1+2 further (haven't done it)
-Finish unit 3 further
-Read over texts
-Watch Italian children shows :D
-Get into sleeping habit
-Go on a nudie run @ the Australia Open
So what's this tale of TrueTears? Elaborate!
-
Just chillin, you know.
Finished VCE and shet.
-
The truetears story is explained a a couple of pages ago.
-
I'll probably:
- Read my English texts.
- Start some Methods exercises/look over textbook.
- Try to finish Unit 3 Chemistry.
- Make notes on Legal Studies/look over textbook.
- Translate some passages of Latin.
-
I'll be balancing out holiday activities with doing work out of unit 3/4 methods textbook to get me a head start for year 12 YAY!!!! :D :D :D :D :D.
-
You Year 12s are lucky as. Can't wait for the holiday where I'll actually be able to have fun...
Lol. Not the coming one, that's for sure.
So, Melbourne Uni Summer School in January, extra tutoring sessions outside of that, couple of sleepovers and outings and SELF STUDY (in six subjects >.<) for the rest of it.
Gosh I hope it all works out, lol ^^
Enjoy your schoolies though all you graduates!
Year 11s, let's brace ourselves as we're buckling downn lol.

wow.. it's goign to be a very hectic year for you :p
I dont see why your school wont let you drop English, you're already doing Eng Lang....
I dont find Jap particularly hard, 2nd in class behind an international student (whose chinese) and knows like all the kanji +100000s more and grammar cos she studied jap in china or whereever...
All you need to be able to do is remember the kanji, grammar and different conjugations and you're good :)

Ughh, I know >.<
I'm giving up all semblance of a life till 2012. ^^
Even though the world might end then... xD
Yeah, my school's silly like that :( But I've already exploited all their loopholes and done everything no previous vce student has done before, so, don't wanna' push my luck any further. ^^
And yeaah!! The kanji usually has the exact same meaning as the Chinese character, from what I remember when learning Jap, so fe, he'd ace it.
Couldn't decipher, were you asian or not? lol.
-
Yes i am asian :) but many of my friends say that i have an asian brain and asian appearance, but other than that im pretty much aussie. lol
And i think that is partly why i pick up and understand Jap so much easier than the other students at school who are mainly aussie.
I persuaded my school to let me do 2 3/4s this year :)

Ohh, lucky you!! My school would never let us do that, lol. And at Chinese school, I'm surrounded with friends who do like, 3 1/2s in Year 10 and 4 3/4s in Year 11. >.< Sick.
High five to the nationality, lol, I'm asian too ^^
And ditto; I suppose you'd have to be, I dunno about you but I go to a massively bogan school and me and this other dude are the only Asians in our year xD
Good luck for Jap and all the rest! I think we've digressed a bit from holiday agendas, lol.

yeah i was pretty lucky, i initially planned to get mid 40s for both bio and further, but slacked off during the year so ill end up getting high 30s for both still decent tho.
*high five* back xD
mmm yeah id say that my school has a fair amount of bogans, lol i think myself and 3 or 4 other asians are not international students so legit asians born here :P
haha yeah we have hijacked this thread, sorry.
thanks and good luck to you to for your furture aspirations :D
-
Right back at cha', uhh, onerealsmartperson ^^
To give some semblance of an answer to the original thread, a possible NSW/QLD trip might be in order for me as well. :)
