Hey guys I just want to see realistically whether I will get in or not. :S
Basically, these are my grades:
Sem 1
Biology: GD SA GD VG
Chemistry: VG EX VG GD
Chinese SL: EX EX EX EX EX
English: VG VG VG
GEN MATHS: OS EX EX
Sem 2
Biology: EX CO NA VG
Chemistry: EX GD VG
Chinese SL: EX EX OS EX OS
English: VG GD GD CO
GEN MATHS: EX OS OS
This is my school's grade hierarchy:
OS - Outstanding
EX - Excellent
VG - Very Good
GD - Good
CO - Competent
SA - Satisfactory
NI - Needs Improvement
UG - Ungradeable
The NA that I have in Sem 2 bio is because someone copied word for word my SAC (take home SAC)... Our reports haven't been released yet (these are the grade summaries without comments) but if my teacher mentions that I'm involved in cheating, will this impact my chances?
Thanks in advanced.
EDIT: Due to my poor performance in the exam, I'm expecting a 38-40 SS for methods... :(

This may be of interest to you... I was told this by the Monash University Enhancement Faculty, when I enquired about MUEP Accounting:
Q: Are there set requirements in terms of grades etc, for a student to do University Accounting in Year 12? (i.e. A score of 40 or higher in Accounting 3/4)
A: A minimum is 41 for all subjects, and preferably higher for your subject preference.
Though I think with your grades there, you could get in. Not too sure about Methods 3/4 though.
-
Hmm I was wondering if they made exceptions for good GMA results though... I really do not want to continue with BIO :P
Did you apply for MUEP Accounting?

Nah, I didn't apply. =p
IMO I don't think Monash will be that tight. If you get 40 raw and with those grades there, you could get in - that's just me though. Someone better like m@tty could answer your question. PM him if you want...
-
it doesnt matter. someone got in with 37. Monash cares jackshit lol i think theyd just want your money/numbers.
There's never an overload of people anyway so they tend to accept you.
-
There you go, answer for you.
Monash lied to me!.. they make it seem so hard to get into. =\

Thanks for the peace of mind. :)
I guess I'm in with a chance then.
-
I've heard of someone who was accepted with a 33(raw) several years ago. Don't worry, you should easily get in.
-
Well I've applied for MUEP UniChem next year, and it says you should be getting a 41 in Chem (despite having done 3/4 Chem), but I can say for sure that we only have ~2 40+ kids for Chem each year, and about 10 that do UniChem...

They charge you $900 compared to Melbourne Uni. Like, I reckon we just pay that money to compensate for the fact that MUEP is an easy 5.5 and UMEP is not. Well, you guys have to pay that money. I didn't.

Why didn't you have to pay? Monash Prize?
I got the Monash Prize but it's only a half scholarship, damn!

Exactly my plan. :)
Open book exams and all, sounds way too good to pass!

Which subjects have open book? Surely it couldn't be more than just maths subjects that get that?

WTF WHY IS IT HALF? Monash prize is full, and yea, I got that.

Nah only half this year, plus a $1000 cheque open winning it, and $1000 or $2000 upon going to Monash
The guy that presented joked that he hoped to see me in the Medicine Faculty in a few years, shame he couldn't give me some preference for that instead!
-
$1000 for the course in Monash.
Like it's a "$3000" prize, so 1k straight off, 1k for MUEP, 1k for monash course in uni.
As if it isonly half, so $450?
-
I'll upload my acceptance sheet if you want me to prove it, it's definitely only $450, maybe I just got dogged or Monash has decided to become tight!
-
I didn't even get an acceptance sheet ???
I got it at assembly and that was that.

Yeh I got my 1k cheque at assembly and it had an enhancement form, and a couple of other letters and one was saying congratulations on winning, this is what you get:...... to help with books and blah blah blah...

What?!
You get more than just exemption from fees?
That's awesome :D
Too bad my school didn't get awarded one... I would have had a good chance at it, I think. ;)

Yeh I'm definitely not complaining about winning it, it's a lot better than KLD where you only get something for going, now I can choose either UoM or Monash and I get money if I go to either!

Regarding my cheating incident in bio, this is what my teacher wrote on my report.
"Vea completed all of the required SACs, however, with take home SAC, that was a field report, there was an issue with two members of the class submitting the same work. He is encouraged to ensure that when he puts time and effort into completing work for assessment it is not shared by others."
Will this affect my chances of getting in?...
Am I allowed to submit just the grades without the comments?...
Do they even read comments?...
:S
Thanks in advanced again.
-
bump....
-
i was told , for monash uni chem , they were pretty strict. I have no clue about the process though, since im applying to do it next year as well. I submitted evertyhing, but our reports are A+ scale not VELS.
BUt yeah i heard they were quite strict on the study score. don't take my word for it though
-
I dont think Monash is strict on comments, more so with the grades.
I remember asking them if I should submit extra teacher comments since the ones in my report are REALLY short but they said that it doesn't matter
-
Ah k looks like I'll send them my original version of the report then.
