Title: 5 bonus ATAR points
Post by: sam99 on December 11, 2010, 05:12:17 pm
Swinburne is giving 5 bonus ATAR points to students in certain postcodes:

http://www.swinburne.edu.au/studentoperations/vtac/regional-bonus.html#courses

This might help someone who is looking for additional support or might want to enter business and commerce degrees at Swinburne.
Good Luck for Monday  :)

I think this is pretty much the same as other unis letting students from certain areas or from underrepresented schools in a certain course with lower ATAR requirements.

Apparently some people are allowed to do biomed at UoM with only an 88 ATAR if they suit the requirements which is much better than a +5.

Out of curiosity, how do universities classify a school as "underrep"?

EDIT.

Why would Glen Waverley, Ringwood and Wheelers Hill be part of their 'regional bonus scheme'?? that makes no sense.

Presumably those areas are near one of Swinburne University's many campuses (i.e. this). That's the only reason I can think of.

I'm in a $550,000 house in Narre Warren South, but I still want it to be part of this scheme. Having Narre Warren North AND East, but not South, in the mix, don't help!

Mate, the kids at Wheelers are doing it tough you know? Go down to Jells Road and check out those houses.

And if you think that's a big house check out the house opposite...
