Title: pe scaling up?
Post by: Pe_me on December 13, 2010, 07:23:38 am
hey, I got a 46 for pe,
apparently next year pe gets scaled up by 1 or 2 because it turns into a science.
apparently its scaled down by 1 this year.
so does pe get scaled up next year?
and if so, will I be scaled up then, or scaled down this year?

if u did pe this year, it will scale according to 2010 scaling report, ie. NOT next year's scaling

I only got 40 raw which is far from bad I know, although I checked with the answers on this thread for the exam and basically had them word for word which doesn't make much sense considering GA1 and GA2 were both an A+ :s

Did P.E go up or down this year if you get over 45? Does anyone know?

Incorrect. Biology gets scaled +1.

they don't choose scaling, it depends on cohort who does it - which are typically a weak one. it wont be scaling up anytime soon, since the avarege person who does it will remain similar.

yes i understand your fustration. i lost probably 5 marks on that exam that i know, got close to full mark average on my sacs in a pretty good cohort and only got 45. so annoyed.

get a statement of marks, and find out exactly what happened.

So p.e scales down because traditionally 'dumber' people take this subject and they don't care so much about so the average mark becomes lower?? I don't really understand how that all works :p

And when will the a+cut off come out or does it never come out?

They generally release where people scored, although I don't think I have seen each cut off released by themself. I cannot locate the files now but I remember on the VCAA site they do release what grades and what percent of students received them along with the mean and median for each.

Exactly the same as me. I corrected my answers from memory compared to whoever it was that corrected it on the thread and I only lost about 10 marks. I also got a score of 40.

How could Physical Education be a science? :S

If by science you mean it will have a midyear, it won't.

The premise is that since 'dumber' people are doing it, it would be easier to score higher as your raw study score is essentially a ranking, and the amount of 'dumber' people makes it easier to be in the top 8% of students.

Thanks for that :) I think I understand that now...the whole scaling thing still does my head in :/

Got 48. Very happy with my result. The ambiguity of the exam was where most people tripped up I think.

Wow this is interesting. I can sort of see why it's turning into a science.

Congratulations to you both for the study scores btw
