-
ahaha we get the GAT in the mail, right?
-
Lol
yeah, it comes in the mail!
-
There is no one out there more excited for the GAT results then me! THIS WILL MAKE OR BREAK MY FUTURE
GOOD LUCK TAIGA AND EVERYONE OUT THERE
-
Why is the gat important?
-
Hahahaha.
We need to start "The GAT and Results Build Up Thread".
In all seriousness I am curious but not concerned about my GAT result.

yea i feel the same way

Do year 11s get sent GAT results too??
-
Do year 11s get sent GAT results too??
Yup, should be with the other results (I can't actually remember but I think this is right)
-
I'm genuinely excited for this. I won't be home til 11PM though! :(
-
Anyone gonna pull an all nighter for GAT results?
:D
-
Do year 11s get sent GAT results too??
Yup, should be with the other results (I can't actually remember but I think this is right)
Confirmed.
-
can the GAT lift up your ATER?
-
can the GAT lift up your ATER?
Yes, but it would have done it prior to you getting your results today
-
It could, but nothing can change now. The GAT has already been used to adjust your ATAR. According to VCAA the GAT can only upscale your ATAR.
-
I'm curious what I'll get for the GAT. I screwed it up last year really badly. Be interesting to see this year.
-
omg lolz.
i do not want my parents to see this- straight in the bin please.
i slept for 3 hours ha
-
can the GAT lift up your ATAR?
Indirectly, yes. The gat can directly influence your english grade, and it can be used as a guide to make an indicitive study score for a subject that you missed an exam for (it can be used in some other instances too but rarely is). So, it can change study scores which change the ATAR.
edit: beaten by lexitu.

I still can't believe we couldn't bring food in with us. -_-

Without a doubt, I'd be looking at:
Written: Standardised score of 50/50 :D
Maths/Science/Technology: 0/50
Humanities/Arts/Social Sciences: 55/50
Yeah, I'm good at humanities. What can I say? >_>
-
Has anyone received their VCAA letter yet?
-
Has anyone received their VCAA letter yet?
I just did then. It was missing the actual certificate though? Or does the school sent this out?
-
^ VTAC sends the actual certificate. Got mine in the mail today. :)
-
Has anyone received their VCAA letter yet?
I just did then. It was missing the actual certificate though? Or does the school sent this out?
vtac sent me my certificate with scaled score and overall (so mine didnt even have further as it was my 7th)
and i also got my GAT results with all my scores for subjects from VCAA
glad to see i broke into the 40s for humanities and for written communication.. lawl wtf
-
LOL
Written Communication: 44 (which I what I got as a SS)
Science: 38
Humanities: 45
Damn! I should have done humanities subjects instead! :P
-
Holy fuck. What the hell is with all these sudden random good english results. I was never good at english!!!
2010 GAT SCORES:
Written Comm 45
Maths/Science 35
Humanities/Arts 33
As compared to last years which is pretty different..
2009 GAT SCORES:
Written Comm 31
Maths/Science 38
Humanities/Arts 37
weird turn around haha....
these are the standardised scores btw.
-
LOL gat scores are hilarious. I did soo bad.

Ah okay, thanks for the clarification.
GAT results:
Written Communication: 37
Science: 36
Humanities: 35
They are close as to each other, I don't know if that is a good thing but I do wish that the written one was my SS for English instead of 34 xD
-
my postman hasn't come yet :(
-
Neither has mine. I saw the postie on the other side of the road about 2 hours ago though...
-
Gosh, that would be annoying.. I am so curious to see how bad i went! :P
-
Neither has mine. I saw the postie on the other side of the road about 2 hours ago though...
hmm that is strange... the postman gets to my place usually around the same time everyday and thats when it came :)

Written Communication: 45 (34/40)
Maths/Science/Tech: 49 (34/35) :D
Humanities/Arts/Social Sciences: 48 (31/35)
Surprised at written - I did it after the mult. choice, one half-assed page for each prompt.
It's interesting that my scores are really, really close to what my brother got in 2000/2001.
-
i threw my gat in the bin hahaha
-
Writtan communication - 22/40
Maths/Science/Tech - 20/35
Humanities/arts/social sciences- 19/35
LOL
That is horrible... I'll just actually try next year :P
-
Maths/Science/Tech: 49 (34/35) :D
i got 33/35 and got 46 o.0 does that mean no1 can get 47 or 48? lol

Written communication - 22/40
Maths/Science/Tech - 20/35
Humanities/arts/social sciences- 19/35

Humanities/arts/social sciences- 14/35
-
Maths/Science/Tech: 49 (34/35) :D

Seems like it. Maybe way more people got 33 than 34, so the percentage with 34 became 49 on the bell curve, but 33 became 46.
-
I had trouble with my invigilator this year so my score for the written section is 8 points lower than last year. Seriously, the woman kept hassling me when I was trying to write! Luckily, I don't need the GAT for anything but it's still annoying.
-
Written Communication - 45 (34/40)
Maths/Sci/Tech - 46 (33/35)
Humanities/Social Sciences - 40 (27/35)

Haha, the guy supervising my GAT came up to me while i was writing. Then, he started telling me that he remembers my sister and then he started asking questions about her!?
-
is the GAT a good indication of subject results LOL
-
is the GAT a good indication of subject results LOL
Apparently xD,
Maths was 46 and I got 46 for Further :D
Written.. 34 (I expected around this for english language)
Humanities. 33 (economics = 31, accounting expected 34)

If my results are meant to indicate how i will go next year... I'm looking at an ATAR of about 50... haha
-
lol according to the gat the humanities section it predicted me to get 32 for legal and accounting but i got 42 and 45
therefore, not a good indicator for me....
-
My scores...
Written: 33/40 (Standardised = 44)
Maths/Science/Tech: 28/35 (38)
Humanities/Arts/Social Sciences: 30/35 (45)
:)
-
this may sound retarded, but do we receive it in the same VTAC envelope as our ATAR results?
I haven't received it although i did receive my atar one.. :S

VTAC sends you your results (i.e. aggregate + ATAR certificate) and VCAA sends you your GAT + raw scores (2 separate sheets)
-
well VCAA better pick up their game the lazy bastards!
cheers mate
-
Written Communication - 27 (19/40)

not bad..
-
VCAA.. you bunch of idiots! I got a 26/35 for my Mathematics/Science/Technology and then you standardise it to 36/35?

Should we take it seriously next year (those in year 11 I mean)? Our school does a practice GAT a couple of days before just to make sure we do... Any opinions on that?
-

My school does one too. I think it's silly. I'm gonna try hard next year in the actual gat though, you may as well.
-
A... practice GAT? How on earth does that work?
-

You shouldn't neglect it completely because who knows you might get really sick or something might happen then you rely on your GAT score.. and after neglecting it because its a 'joke' you would want to kill yourself.

I think we should take it seriously next year. I was reading somewhere that uni's can take your GAT score into consideration (i read it somewhere on here) ... My scores were so horrible this year though, haha :|

Point taken, I don't think I did too badly (gave up on the written areas as I knew I wasn't doing english 3+4 this year)

Thanks _avO and chrisjb! Feel a lot better now.
-
Are predicted GAT scores actually accurate?? ... especially with english.. did people match or beat or get lower than their predicted study score for english???
-
I swear the GAT is mocking me with Written Communication:
Written Communication: 40/40 50

Nah, sorry. A lot of us are in the same situation (i.e. I got 42 for methods but a predicted score of 44 :P).
-
29/40 = 39 (Eng/Lit - 34/31)
34/35 = 49 (Compare: Spesh -36 lol)
26/35 = 39
Haha, I would be extremely relieved if these DID count xD
-
I always thought that you get whichever score was higher.
-
I'm coming home from holidays tomorrow guys, so be ready for my scores, so excited!
......
-
Written Communication - 24 (16/40 XD)
Maths/Science/Tech - 44 (32/35)

maths/science/tech (26/35) = 36 [methods 34, chem 37]

Wow.. epic. See guys.... you don't need to do the high-scaling subjects like Specialist Math or Methods or Chem or even a LOTE for that matter... o.O to get a high ATAR score.
cambiej has smashed this myth right in the face with his 99.95 score...... go humanities! ;D
I'm surprised there you didn't do any LOTE though? What did you get for English Lang and Theatre?
-
I'm so glad my GAT didn't count this year:
Written - 31/40 - 42
Maths - 34/35 - 49
Hums - 25/35 - 37 LOL
BEAT THUSHAN IN HUMS!!!!
Got to put this on my resume/CV ;)
-
^ LOL me too *high five*
This is an auspicious sign :D
-
Written Communication: 21/40 = 30 (only wrote one sentence on the second piece, does this mean i got full marks on the first?)
Math/Science/Tech: 34/35 = 49 (maybe i should've done maths and sciences in high school O_O)
Hums: 23/35 = 35 (got above 40 in legals, psych and health?)
I was dumbfounded by the math/sci/tech score.
-
Written Communication: 28/40 = 38
Math/Science/Tech: 34/35 = 49
Humanities: 31/35 = 48
Pretty much expected. I always screw up the written part.
-
math/science and written communication i was in the top 2% for both...
and they were the only types of subjects i did this year...
i really should have gotten derived scores, would have won epiclyyyy. ;D

Theatre 48, but Eng Lang - 41! I don't actually physically know what happened, because it was my best subject and I duxed Melbourne Uni Linguistics Enhancement. That's not meaning to be arrogant, it just doesn't seem to make sense, you know?

I got a 50 for Written on my GAT and a 41 study score for English. Soul crushing stuff right there. :/

Could someone give me a detailed (100% confident) explanation of what the GAT results actually do? What subjects (if any) do they impact directly? Does it affect the scaling of the subject?
-
Could someone give me a detailed (100% confident) explanation of what the GAT results actually do? What subjects (if any) do they impact directly? Does it affect the scaling of the subject?
this is just a few:
1.Checks that your internally marked assessments (SAC’s and SAT’s have been correctly marked) – it helps to form part of the process of statistical moderation of marks.
2.Validates externally assessed exams. Usually exams are marked twice by two different assessors (depending on the subject). If there is a significant discrepancy between the two assessment grades it can be marked a third time. If this result doesn’t correlate with your school’s indicative grade (their prediction on how they think you will go on your subject exam) and your predicted score (based on your GAT performance) then a flag is raised which gets your exam performance reviewed again. According to the VCAA – your exam performance won’t go down, it could stay the same or actually increase.
3.If you are ill, injured or experience personal hardship around the exams you can apply for a Derived Examination Score – your GAT performance is important to help determine that Derived Examination Score. A poor GAT performance may effect this Derived Examination Score.
-
Written-50. Science/math-42. Humanities-35. Maybe I shouldn't have gone to my English exam :p
-
I never got my GAT results...any way of getting them now? lol

I havent recieve mine, can I ask for resent?

Mathematics/Science/Technology: 35, Further: 49
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. I got 37 for that section and ~28 (not worth remembering) for further
