Title: Anyone do surprisingly BAD?
Post by: Kotza on December 13, 2010, 04:31:50 pm
I walked out of the exam feeling like a God, writing a freakin' novel on the paper (so much).

And i received a crap scoreeee! Argh.

Anyone experience something similar or the total opposite?

Me too, got a 39 lol walked out was like .. okay weird exam but hopefully I did well enough for 40+ (really wasn't expecting anything less then 40)

I don't do BM, but my friend was ranked 1 (in a school that got 13 50s in BM a couple of years ago) and got a 39...

Must have been a hard exam

Aww unlucky mate. But at least you raped it overall.

I swear i only dropped a max of 10 marks, and my result was shocking, and didnt help being scaled down 2.1 (although that is nothing compared to previous years.)

Its funny though because i walked out of english extremely discontent... i was so pissed off yet scored in the 40's :S

I srsly dont know what the examiners want, especially receiving D, D, C+ in economics, those grades have a such a large variation in them.

Rohitpi, it wasnt a hard exam, just a 'retarded' exam...

no one knew what to expect haha

That happened in my year as well I think. The guy who got the BM prize ended up getting like 39 as well I think. That shoulda been my prize! D: Same goes for bio actually; guy who got that in '07 ended up getting 42 I think. Just shows that SACs aren't the best indicator for exam performance.

Very true, I got As and B+s and somehow got a 42 (in bio)

Feel sorry for all the BM people though...

I should note that I was also rank 1 for both units, does that mean my fail A drags down the whole cohort?

^ yes it does, in Religion and Society last year, the Rank 1 got a 42, and that brought all our marks down.

HOWEVER some dude got a 46 so dont feel bad!

Rohitpi... thats crazy :S

I was the total opposite. Felt like I completely screwed the exam up an ended with a high score. It's weird

Had the same feeling as you. Walked out thinking I'd scored low 40s and ended up with a 50. BM's a really difficult subject to tell how you went =/ It's just all in how you write your answers really. Almost everyone above 40 knows the entire course already.

what's worse is I spent most of my studying on busman and ended up getting a worse scaled SS than a subject I practically gave up on after seeing my mid years

yeh you see I got the same result and it could not have been a bigger shock. Guys like avo deserve much better! Overall my cohort performed exeptionally, I think it's based on some solid scores out of only 11. That can make a difference

Burberry, I have a feeling that person was lying too... I didn't think the teachers told ranks in MHS.

I wasn't sure, he was damn good at BM though (looking at his SACs I thought it could have been true).

Clearly I was wrong though

Did you get the BM prize?  (the bio prize went to a guy with 47)

Oh well, you'd take the 50 any day over a pile of books (prizes are over-rated)

I did surprisingly good, 40. Not bad given I only studied for it 3 days before exam and night before each SAC. Bludge subject fer sure.

Hmm I dunno I got C+ for methods and A+/B+ for exams...

A+, A+, B+
Score: 38
Overall Ranking for units 3 & 4: 2
My teachers Indicative Result: A+
How the fuck can I investigate discrepancies.. You wouldn't believe how pissed off I am with my result, my mate who was number 1 was neck and neck with me throughout the entire year and got 49 yet I end up with 38

Can anyone that is in Yr 12 and got between45-49 let me know the scaled score? I'd be interested to see what the scaling is...

Was anybody surprised that the scaling was as much as it was?

It was such a bizarre exam i expected the scaling to be less, as i thought people would have found it harder?

Also, anybody cop some random ass grades? I got 2 D's for economics and a C+, that's such a huge difference! (eco is my worst sub. lol)

I really hoped the scaling was like -1, but in the end it didn't really affect my ATAR as much as it could have.

Also yeah, economics got a C lol.. then again didn't study (didn't study for accounting too, yet I got a B+? :S)

The scaling has little, if any correlation to the exam. That's to do with where the cutoffs are. Scaling depends on the calibre of students within a subject.

lexitu i know... but i had assumed that everyone would do poorly, hence less scaling down.

anyways, im over talking of exams... im glad all you did so well, and all the best for the future

Fitting for a thread like this..

I coulda had class. I coulda been a contender. I coulda been somebody, instead of a bum, which is what I am, let's face it.

Mmm.
I started Business Management during term 2.
Had to sit all the SACs that were taken in term 1 in one day.

Came out with an A+ on the exam, even though it was probably my worst exam.
It was shit.

I was hoping for mid 40s, but ended up with a 40.

SAC awards went to a girl in Business Management who ended up getting 29 at my school.

Shows how shit the exam was.
