Apparently xD,
Maths was 46 and I got 46 for Further :D
Written.. 34 (I expected around this for english language)
Humanities. 33 (economics = 31 ->33 scaled, accounting expected 34)
Also last year got a 38 for maths, and also a 40 scaled for methods..

The GAT is rubbish. Let me put it into perspective for you. In 2009 it predicted me a score of 28 for english. This year it predicted me a 30. In reality I got a 46. The GAT is very, very wrong and I've always been a good english student.

Question, does the herald sun post the ATAR's of every student. If so can i have a link.

Also can i have a link to the students that got 40+.

No, just everyone who consented to publishing of a raw 40+ SS (yr10, 11 or 12)

Hahaha I got below average for the written communication part. One section I did alright but the other piece I just went on a rant about how the world is a shit place. Come to think of it... how did I pull out a 29? O_O
The GAT is such a waste of time. Half the questions are ridiculously ambiguous. You just have to take those results with a grain of salt.

Maths/Science/Tech: 49
Maths Methods: 50.
That's pretty damn close. If GAT results do reflect Study scores, I'm expecting a 45 for English, which would be great!

Absolutely. The GAT is most probably one of the most important aspects of VCE.

It really depends. If you take the GAT seriously, it ought to reflect your abilities. However, it doesn't measure the effectiveness of your study routine.

Just wondering: does anyone know how your performance in the GAT alters your study scores?

The GAT is more of an intelligence test/ general knowledge it requires no study AT ALL.

VCE definetly does require study and time commitement.

I think in this respect the GAT is a terrible indicator.

You could be fairly intelligent but lazy and not study or be dedicated, you would get a decently high gat but lower study scores.

You could be however very hard working and rely on that to get you through, your study scores may be higher than the gat.

See in these situations i dont think the gat makes a good indicator.

I got 48 and 49 respectively for the Maths/Humanities sections (a fairly accurate reflection), while I only got 38 for the written communication, which was well below my actual english result.

Those kind of discrepancies are quite common. Also, if you sit two GATs you might notice yours scores between the years are completely different or even that you do much worse the second time around.

I know a person who tried really hard in year 11 on the GAT, spent time meticulously writing both essays, and got 39 in the Written Communications.  Next year, forgot that there was a second essay until 10 minutes left to the end, wrote a page of crap, and got a 50.

Also I beat Kyzoo in the Maths/Science part of the GAT last year.  Enough said.

Well I got a scaled score of 45 in everything in the gat, and my scaled study scores were 45 +- 3

It's not too bad

Well I got 42 for written communication, 41 for math/science and 33 for humanities.

My Legal Studies study score = 34 which scales down to 33..

Pretty accurate for me lol.

In year 11, I got 49 for writing. I only got 44 for English.

(I'm ignoring my GAT results from this year, as I barely slept before the test. But even so, my GAT writing was still high 40s... despite my English score...)

Well it looks to be indicative of general performance in that area, don't expect it to be 100% on the dot (Although it was with my humanities)

Ok, adding to my story.  Last year I tried quite hard on the GAT, wrote what I felt was a well-planned and well-formulated essay, ended up with 39 in the written communications section.  This year, I couldn't care less, infused the second piece with comments about Human Centipede being indicative of a declining mental health in society, etc., and got a 48.
