Going off that from
this last year (2010) and from what people have suggested, I decided to have a "Results Thread". It seemed popular with Legal Studies students last year, so I decided to have one for next this year, 2011.
Don't feel obliged to do this if you don't want to, I can just remove your name from the list.

That as well.
Feel free to post feedback/comments and so on.

I'll add you in the other thread as well, what are you aiming for Legal?.. score, that is.

Yayy thanks! :] I'm aiming for around 45

Added.
Good luck for Legal! xD
I'm doing it as well. Seeing as you're relatively new to this forum, we're all here to help each other out (though we may be competing against one another), if you have any questions - post them up on the other thread "Legal Studies Questions Thread" and I'm sure someone will know the answer or at least try to help you out. Use all the resources available on this website (practice exams and so on), and ask your teacher a lot questions. Best of luck!
-
Good idea,
sorry, i know you don't want this to go off-topic, this is just a 1 off question
but do you know if there was a thread with the study scores of legal students on vcenotes?

No worries. I don't think there is a specific thread for Legal study scores - they're all muddled into the OFFICIAL VN STUDY SCORES 2010 thread. You might have to search the previous pages of the Legal Studies Board to find an old thread with scores, but other than that, VN users just post all their scores in that thread.

add mee :)

Hey! Sounds good! I'm in :)
Ahh, my first SAC is like 2nd week back :o

My Unit 3 SACs are on:
- 28th Feb (25%)
- 4th April (50%)
- 30th May (25%)
Might I remind people of this:
As a forewarning, where you are ranked/placed (in this table/ladder) isn't indicative of anything - there is still the small matter of the exam - which counts for the same amount as SACs do (50% exam, 50% SACs).
Good luck to everyone doing Legal in 2011!

Don't feel obliged to do this if you don't want to, I can just remove your name from the list. This will only run for Unit 3 and if all goes well and people like the idea, then it can be expanded to Unit 4 as well. Having said this:
... it's a good idea, though I don't want other people (myself included) to feel embarrassed/disheartened if they don't do well on a SAC or something.
I mean, it also depends on the school - some schools give out easier SACs, while other schools give harder ones - it wouldn't be a true indication of how everyone's going in comparison to one another, due to the level of difficulty of SACs. I just thought I'd mention that, though I don't have any objections to it.
But for all intensive purposes, we'll see how it goes. I'm still a bit skeptical to the idea, though I'm willing to give it a shot. =D

That as well.
I'm also assuming everyone does 3 SACs for Unit 3, correct me if I'm wrong. Feel free to post feedback/comments and so on, since everyone's first SAC is still ages away. I'd also like to acknowledge chrisjb, if this somehow becomes a hit. xD
EDIT: Try to stay on this topic if you can, I don't want this thread de-railed and losing its purpose.
what about me... it isnt fair :P .. hehe .. why arnt i their :) pretty please

First SAC on Friday, but not the whole of SAC 1. It's SAC 1A. Testing bit by bit for a deeper understanding. Will post results of SAC1 when the second version of it is completed. Going for 95-100%; should have it.

Booyeah! 20/20 for the first part of the AOS 1 SAC! :) My teacher is epic - she said that she marked mine first so that she could gauge everyone else's SACs. :P
-
BTW EPL, maybe you should put in an extra column for overall Unit 3 score?

Shall do. I presume "overall Unit 3 score" would be the average of all the SACs. Once Unit 3 is done, I'll do the same for Unit 4.

legal SAC on thursday, is it only my school that's decided to split the first outcome into two SACs?
Our first SAC is a ten-marker and second SAC is a 15 mark..
Do you guys type your in-class notes? It'd be helpful to see how other teachers go about it

My first Legal Studies SAC is next Monday; I had a practice SAC today. My teacher gives us the option of typing or hand-writing our notes; doesn't matter to him. He does regular checks to make sure we're up-to-date with our AOS notes. Generally, he'll go through the information - explain etc, and we'll make summary points. Personally, I hand-write my notes in class then I'll type them up later.
-
oh, could you upload some of what you have typed up already?
this would be helpful
-

Ohh, I've only typed up notes for the first chapter of my textbook - "Making and Breaking the Law". I got slack typing them. I don't know if it will be of any use to you, but I'll upload it anyway. Sorrryy I can't be of further help. =\ Anyhow good luck for Thursday.

My school has split the first outcome for the legal class too.

that's still pretty helpful.
How do you set your notes out like that? I'm going to start typing my notes for legal, there's just too much writing and it's difficult to keep organised.
This chapter 1, it's basically light revision of last year, correct? In the justice and outcomes textbook, it was summed in 2 pages or so.
-
Very detailed notes considering it was only for the introduction! :P

I made notes on the first chapter in the holidays, and I combined my own notes with what my teacher had said in class. My teacher said there isn't really any point making notes on what you already know/are comfortable with; instead, make notes for the areas/topics which you're concerned with or are unsure of. I have a separate exercise book purely based for note-taking and once I finish an AOS, I write up notes based on what I've written in the exercise book. Try to condense all your notes into mini-paragraphs or dot points? I find that also works. Easier to read.
Yes, Chapter 1 of my textbook - "Making and Breaking the Law" is essentially light revision of last year. Depends on the textbook I guess; different textbooks start off at different topics. Do whatever works for you; I tend to make my notes in large chunks of paragraphs using examples etc. If you want your notes as a PDF file, go to 'Save As' then click 'Adobe PDF' - this is on Microsoft Office Word 2007, I believe.
-
My actual SAC is on Monday. I got my practice SAC back a few days ago - 42/50; which was the highest score in the year level. The average was 23/50 in my class; my teacher marked the SAC quite harshly. The practice SAC was 13 pages long. o.0 Has everyone already done their first SAC? =\
-
Sigh, that really says something about standards.. Our practice SAC was 1 double-page, a long with the actual SAC (which was in reality, a half SAC).
Do you think you could upload/type out the questions on your practice SAC? (although, 13 pages seems a lot to scan/type out o_o)
by the way, i found my SAC to be really easy, it was only a 10 marker, and the only thing which will distinguish the top from the rest would be the question on 'seperation of powers'. I really hope that the school makes harder SACs though..

My practice SAC was pretty easy as well - content-wise; my teacher wanted more detail though. Hence, some students were too general and didn't get full marks; myself included. There was a 10-mark question on my SAC as well; about Parliament - I got 8 for it. o.0 I've attached a copy of the exact questions on my practice SAC; you'll find it's not too hard.
-
I hate Legal studies with a passion, but damn that looks easy :/
-
Darn that looks easy. Mine was just as easy I think, I want more 'detailed' SACs that actually encourage you to think outside the box and not regurgitate textbook material, though.
-

Most of my practice sacs have been pretty straightforward too. Does Legal even have "make you think outside the box" sacs? Like what's an example of a question that would come in one of those sacs?
-
I was thinking just questions that have a scenario at the start. I think that's as far as it goes in Legal, in terms of thinking 'outside the box'.
-
With those questions? How many lines of writing were they each expected to be? I'm getting 12 was an Extended Response question?
-
With those questions? How many lines of writing were they each expected to be? I'm getting 12 was an Extended Response question?
The way I would structure the answer if the question was worth 12 marks is; one paragraph stating to what extent you disagree or agree with the statement. Then, I would have 4 or 5 paragraphs - for each paragraph outline one strength and the corresponding weakness. I don't know how many lines that equates to, but they normally give you a lot of writing space for the big mark questions anyhow. 12 marks is probably the most you'll get for the "scenario" questions. I'd structure your response so it's easier to read for the exam markers and your teacher; one strength and weakness per paragraph.
-
Count me in guys - my first SAC is on Wednesday and I will post my result once I have it.
-
My SAC is tomorrow. =] I should *hopefully* get my result within the week.
-
Good luck!

I got my first SAC (it was a half SAC) back, 100%. out of my class i was rank 1, but i do not know if im tied with anyone else from the other class.
-
Congrats ! :)
-
Congrats ! :)
+1
The results so far have been pretty impressive; 100%. I had my SAC today. It was harder than my practice SAC and longer as well, but I think I did well. I asked my teacher when we'd get our results back, and he said mid-next week - it has to be cross-marked and all the rest of it. =[
Good luck to everyone else still to do their SAC! =]

Yeah same here, 100% first half of SAC and having the other half this Friday. Hoping for much the same. :)

Yea, the VN average so far is 100% haha, nice.
Although, I feel my SACs are too easy, i'll post them up if anyone wants, along with my answers on them. Do you guys get your SACs back? Maybe it would be good if we could do each other's SACs and see how we score
-
Yes please do post :)
-
I presume my school does allow us to keep our SACs. We're going to spend a period after getting our SAC results back, going through it with fully prepared solutions. I'll post up my SAC questions later on as well. We had questions on subordinate authorities - advantages, disadvantages, safeguards etc on our SAC, which I doubt many other schools would have on their first SAC. =\ The harder the SAC, the better I guess.
-
96% for AOS1 sac, and rank 2 unfortunately! :crazy2:

THREEE?! :O Lmaaoooo that's a lot, my school only has 1 haha
-
Yeah.... the negative aspect of having a year 12 cohort of 350. o.O
-
Hey, Count me in.
I had my first SAC today, pretty sure about everything but one question. The teacher gave us a graphic on the composition of the lower house and one of the questions what are two differences between the role of the House of Representatives and the Role of the Senate. I said that some differences are in the main roles ( determining governent) contrasted with (reviewing legislation). And their different roles in providing for representative government. Ie (electorates, providing equal representation of the people through their member and the senate providing equal representation of the states irrespective of population) you think because she included the graphic i would've had to refer to its composition or would my answer suffice. I used more detail than this just a rough outline..
-
you think because she included the graphic i would've had to refer to its composition or would my answer suffice. I used more detail than this just a rough outline..
Na, you were right in your response. The composition would not be stating the roles and differences in roles, just who it is made up of.
-
I got 47/50 (94%) for my SAC; the highest was 48/50 in the year level. I think two people from the other class of 47/50 though - I think cltf was one of them. :p
-
Well done! Awesome score. Make sure you thrash the next SACs too. ;)
I'm equal 1st (at the moment) with 3 other people... ==' Competition kills me LOL and this is in my class alone (there are 3 other classes)
-
Hey! I totally forgot about this thread :S
I did my AOS1 SAC a few weeks ago, 23/25 (92%)
I'm sorta happy because it wasn't what I was expecting (in a good way) and disappointed, 'cause I lost mark on stupid mistakes! (Not stating the amount of seats in the Legislative Assembly when outlining the structure?!)
I'm not sure what Rank I am... 3 I guess? Only one person got 25/25 and I'm not sure if anyone got 24. The average from what I can tell was ~18
Ahhh another Legal SAC (on the Constitution) coming up in 2 weeks!
-
Is anyone else's school splitting the SACs for AOS1 in half? We've done one sac already, but we've got another one in a week or two, and they combine to form our AOS1 score.
-
Is anyone else's school splitting the SACs for AOS1 in half? We've done one sac already, but we've got another one in a week or two, and they combine to form our AOS1 score.
Yep, our school did this too. AOS 2 SAC will be in two parts as well.
-
I know werdna, nacho and gs's SAC were spilt up into two parts - I've only recorded what they got for their first part. My SAC was in one go. I suppose it's better having it spilt into two parts rather than doing it in one go. Good luck! I think I'm the only one where my SAC wasn't spilt up. =\ Ohh, and a quick update on my SAC result... I was able to scab one mark, so I ended up getting 48/50 - equal Rank 1 with one other guy! :p
-
Hahahaa how did you scab the one mark?
And what....?! How is your AOS 1 out of 50? Ours is 20 and 20, so it's 40 all up.
-
Hahahaa how did you scab the one mark?

My teacher wrote "more detail" in relation to a question about the "Separation of Powers"; I originally got 5 out of 6 marks for that question. I disputed it - I showed him my friend's answer which got the full 6 marks (my answer was pretty much like his) and after re-reading my answer, he gave me the one extra mark. I've got no idea; different marking schemes? In any case, I think my school's way of doing SACs still equals up to 100 marks for Unit 3. My school follows 25-50-25% for SACs - if that makes sense.
-
Just received my mark for the first SAC of AOS1 - 100% It was top mark in the class that I know of, at worst it will be equal top mark (obviously) xD
-
Would anyone else be interested to see other people's SACs? It seems that there can be quite a variation between the SACs set, as well as teacher's marking, which can affect what score you get, and how it relates to other people. I was thinking it might be useful to compare a question or two from people's SACs, and answers that got full marks?
I don't know if that's possible for people (or even me, the teachers keep our SACs until the end of the year), but I was thinking it might be helpful. Anyone else got an opinion?
-
Got my full AOS 1 score today - 20/20 for part 1, and 20/20 for part 2! :) Equal first with one other person atm.
-
Getting my actual marks tomorrow. Told four people in the class who got an A and I was one of them. Was about 3 people in the other class who got A's too, so 7 all up on just about an even tier. The last SAC of the term will decipher the pretenders and the superstars (aka me). :P

I'd be willing to share my SAC; I'll post up my SAC questions tomorrow. My teacher marks our SACs quite harshly and hence, no one got 100% for the SAC in my year level. Note, that whatever you get on your SACs for Unit 3 and 4 will be moderated at the end of the year - when VCAA calculates study scores. SAC marks can be moderated up or down depending on how well your cohort performs on the exam - that is, everyone in your school doing Legal Studies 3/4.
-
Attached is a copy of my school's SAC questions for AOS 1 - my school's SAC questions are probably really different to others. Out of interest, I lost a mark on Question 9 and 13 to get 48/50. The average was 35/50.
-
I got my marks for SAC 1 today.. 27/30 = 90%.. Lost them because i forgot when evaluating i have to give strengths and weaknesses... i just gave strengths.. ah well :\
edit: Class Rank 3, top class mark was 28/30.
-
hey guys anyone have any practice outcomes for AOS2?
Have the SAC next wekk =|
arghhhhhhh!
-
I don't have any AOS 2 practice outcomes, but below is a collection of past VCAA exam questions based on AOS 2 made by my school. It's useful for revision prior to doing SACs.
-
What topics are in AOS 2?
I probably have some SACs from last year, if you want?
-
I think it's on the Constitution and the protection of rights.
-
yep thanks guys.
Our AOS2 is basically broken up into two parts
1st - Constitution
2nd - Protection of Rights
Thanks so far!
-
Yep .. mine too. Ao2 2 is split into two SAC's, the first of which is next wednesday
-
my schools unit1 sac
-
How much time were you given to do that one? Looks like a lot... but atleast you got some easy multies ;)
-
The 10-mark question at the end was different; I'm yet to see a question like that. Good SAC though.
-
That SAC was for the last years Legal 3/4 students, the one we did this year was much harder.
-
Do we only need to know about VLRC or is knowledge about ALRC also required. (are they practically the same ? )
Edit: Sorry, I only just realised this is the Results thread.
-
Do we only need to know about VLRC or is knowledge about ALRC also required. (are they practically the same ? )
Only VLRC; VCAA changed the study design so students only need to know the VLRC. To answer your question though, I think they are the same.
-
two periods.. 90 mins.. acutally less 85.. or 80
-
Hey guys, I want to join in on the list, I got 100% for my AOS1 SAC.
-
Sigh..
Got part 2 of half SAC back.
14/15
Total first SAC equates to 24/25, Ranked 1, tied with another person... -_-, can't believe i forgot to give a damn example.
-
Just got my AOS 2 Results 99%, I gave one of the sections wrong ugh :(
-
thx heaps guys
got 99% on my second outcome
still part 2...
anyone got any outcomes for those ?
-
thx heaps guys
got 99% on my second outcome
still part 2...
What mark/percentage did you get for your AOS 1 SAC? I assume your "second outcome" is AOS 2?
-
holy! these 99% results are awesome :)
keep up the good work!
my unit 3 percentage was 87% last year lol
-
got 100% on my first one 28/28
but got 29.5/30 on the second one
quoted wrong section when referencing "acquisition of property on just terms"
-

Added. You lost half a mark? :P I thought you couldn't get half marks in Legal Studies. The results thus far have been really impressive to say the least; keep up the work everyone! I have my AOS 2 SAC on Monday.

Wow your teacher is really nice to give you half marks. The teacher I had last year wouldn't give my class half marks since you can't on the exam but the other teachers in my school gave their students half marks.
Good luck on your SAC EPL :)
-
Yeah your right, on the exams I know you can't get 1/2 marks but our teacher didn't want to penalize us so much
on the section numbering since she told us that the words were more important than the numbers (as stated in the A+ booklet)
-
I got the second part of my AOS1 sac back today. 14/15 combines with 10/10 to make 24/25, or 96% :)

Update. I got my provisional* AOS 2 SAC mark back; 35/40 (87.5%). =T
Still good, there's still chance of that going up as well since it's only provisional!
-
A little bit late but i'll throw my hat in the ring, Sac 1 23/25 Sac 2 24/25 and ranked 2nd :)

I have received both SAC 2A and 2B and my AoS 2 Score ended up being 28/30 or 93%.

-
EPL, why have you removed yourself from the list?
Because I got lazy. :p Seeing as hardly anyone posted their SAC results (only until recently), I didn't see the point of having my SAC results on the list.
-
got my other sac back
22/25
this is getting worse and worse......... ill just pown after mid years i guess.. but i'd say it was a fair effort seeing that i hadn't even read the chapter :D
4 hours of cramming though..
(Also note, that all my SACs are done as Half SACs, and i've been posting scores only for the individual half sacs, as opposed to combining them into one, sorry about that)
-
I'm averaging 100% so far.
My teachers have done extensive cross-marking but they can't fault me
Hopefully I can keep it going
How's everybody else travelling?
-
Finished Unit 3. We've started AOS 1 of Unit 4. My SAC results have been decent.
-
Hey, sorry I'm a little behind in my updates:
AOS2 was split into two SACs as well - 88% on the first, 100% on the second, averaging out to 94% for AOS2. Class rank still first :)
Also, I noticed my AOS1 score was put in wrong - on the first sac I got 100%, with 96% on the second, so my overall result for AOS1 was 98%, sorry if I didn't make that clear enough xD
-
Just an update. I've re-organised the list. I've removed those who haven't posted their results; Darren, StoneCutter, Tobias Funke, onur369, MrIraq and MJRomeo81. If any of you want to re-join the list at any point, then just post here. I'll make a Unit 4 results list as well (same format as Unit 3), since I presume everyone has done/are about to complete their last Unit 3 Legal Studies SAC. Good luck to everyone for the rest of the year!
-
50/50 for SAC 2. :P
-
SAC 3 Results= 29/30 or 97%
Took 1/2 mark off for not saying 'same' hierarchy when i thought it was implied and another 1/2 for not saying 'lower' court when describing overruling. Ah well, im happy :)
-
Last SAC was 10/10, ended up with 100/100 for Unit 3! :P Pressure is on for the exam though..
-
100% for AOS3, top of the class :)
-
The amount of 100% is crazy...I feel bad now...cause I haven't been trying overly hard for legal thanks to methods, chem, english and viscom... legal = default blugh
-

And yet, you averaged 95% for Unit 3 SACs. You're a shoe-in for 45+ in Legal Studies the way things are going. :p
-
100% for the AOS 3 SAC! :)
-
Totally forgot about this thread!
SAC 2: 76%, Stuffed up so bad! The SAC was divided into two Sacs out of 25 and I got 19 for both! Stupid extended response! Though compared to most others, it was a better score...but I'm not sure where I'm ranked..
SAC 3: 92%
-
Hey, could you add me to the list please (Unit 4 aswell if you can). Sorry if it's a bit late, but I wanted to wait for the results of all my SACs.
SAC 1: 23/25 (92%)
SAC 2 :48/50 (96%)(Actually split into 2 separate SACs worth 25 each, and I got 24/25 for both of them)
SAC 3: 25/25 (100%)
Class Rank: 1 (96/100)
Overall Unit 3 score: 96% (I know, nothing compared to everyone else on here) :D

Updated. I echo the same sentiments as werdna. Well done to everyone thus far! The results speak for itself. They are really impressive to see. As for me, I ended up with an average of 92% for Unit 3 SACs; rank 2 or 3. Best of luck to everyone for Unit 4!
-
Finished SAC1 today. Splitting up Sac 2 into two parts, and then there will be only 1 SAC remaining after that. Gooood times.
-
Unit 4 should only have 2 official SACs, not 3?
