Hi, I am taking 5 3/4's next year. I'd like to take a 6th 3/4. Is it too late to change according to VCAA? If not, when is the deadline?
-
I'm pretty sure you can still change.... I'm planning on enrolling into one more 3&4 subject first day back.
Does anyone know if it's actually possible?
-
for my school, i think the deadline was 2 weeks after school has started..
-
Yeah, as long as your school isn't annoying about it. Although I'd strongly recommend against a 6th subject.
Not sure when the deadline is and ceebs looking it up but it would be somewhere around March, not drastically earlier than that for sure.
-
The deadline is well after term 1 starts, to allow students to drop subjects they don't like. That said, if your school refuses to let you do one then you can't force them to
Why are you picking up another one?

I often found that the parent voice had a strong effect towards school administration.. if you cant change it get your parents to call or even visit the school directly :p

You can definitely change subjects. I had to decide after a week of school starting what subjects to do as there was a sudden timetable clash -___- so bad.
-
why would you want to do 6 in one year??
just concentrate on the 5, i think it will be more productive for you overall
-
dont do 6 subjects. i know it could be tempting to do so. i myself considered it. but by doing so you are very likely to neglect one of your other 5 subjects. 5 subjects is difficult enough to manage come exam time. so dont make the mistake of picking up 6, it will get too difficult to magage, time wise.

Seconded. As what's been said, why do 6 subjects?.. it will only increase your workload and make you more stressed coming to exams. You'd be better having 5 subjects and focusing on those. Did you do any VCE 3/4 subjects this year?
As for deadlines, it varies from school to school. You would probably only be allowed to pick up another subject, if your school sees any benefit from you picking it up. Ask your school on the first day back, if you really want to pick up another subject.
-
hey 50, did you not do any 3/4s last year? You can still do well with 4 subjects believe it or not and 5 is really enough, any more is really pointless and a waste of time.

I would say it's possible to do 6, if you are strong in all 6 subjects, and if you prepare early. If you do 6 subjects, make sure you try and knock down at least 4-5 units over the holidays.
