Hi!
round 1 offers are out on 17th January but i have heard we can get them earlier as they are published in the newspaper.
is this true? when will they be published and which paper? (i presume herald sun)
how is it presented? like
[VTAC ID] [VTAC Course Code of offer] ?
thanks everyone
Raahem.

The paper is published that evening, and will be distributed to certain newsagencies (they havent been confirmed yet as I work at one haha)
if you live close to the city, chances are you will get it before you can get it online
Its just like the 40+, but instead it has the way you presented, just pages upon pages of kids names, vtac course code and then a few pages showing what the codes correspond to
-
I don't know too much about this either.
But I think Jan 17th is the day offers can be viewed online from 7.30pm. I need clarification.

It refers to 13th January here,
and in the list of Key Dates for VTAC it lists 17th January 7:30 pm

does this mean i can find out in the newspaper 13th January?! or just earlier than 7:30pm on the 17th like Luke said?

Moving this to VTAC Discussion.

Yes, first round offers are available through MyInfo (VTAC site) at 19:30.

6.30pm on the herald sun website, which is BEFORE vtac
But if you go to Fed Square you will get it earlier than this

Typo I guess. In previous years, it's always been on a Monday but I would go with the 17th.
-
The 17th is Monday, or am I missing something?
-
ok cool! thanks a bunch everyone :)
all the best if you're awaiting an offer!
and yeah the 17th is a monday
-
So what time is the paper usually released at Fed Square?

I think about 5.30ish, but definitely before any other place, even online
-
I don't want to seem nostalgic, but I still have the paper with my uni offer on it.

Excellent. That's much better than 7:30!

So to summarise;
17th January:
~5.30pm Fed Square
6.30pm Herald Sun website
7.30pm VTAC website
Somewhere in between Fed Square and HS website, papers will arrive at selected newsagencies (who are yet to be confirmed, as we've had no word about it at all about signing up to be a selected agent)
-
I remember last year that the "selected newsagents" were published on the Herald Sun's website a few days before Round 1 offers.

Yep that's correct, but I can verify that the newsagents themselves haven't heard anything from the Herald Sun regarding whether they want to participate, but I would expect we'd hear something next week...
-
wont it be in the monday herald sun newspapaer?
WELL. VTAC doesnt give it out till 7:30pm.

This isn't a typo. The 13th is the deadline for changing the offer publication status.

Now that I read it properly, thank you for pointing that out. 13th is indeed the deadline for changing whether or not you want your offer to be published by the major newspapers.
If I remember correctly, the offers are also printed again in the following day's newspapers (Herald Sun and The Age) but my memory on this isn't too good.

So there won't be our VTAC ID on it? The only way to search for the offers is your name? I mean stating our VTAC ID numbers seems unfair, provided someone has your birthday and can easily access your ATAR online...
Someone pls clarify this, thanks!

You search by your last name and your postcode. From what I remember. So a course code is listed next to your last name and postcode and then you check what course corresponds to that code you've been assigned.
And even if they did have your VTAC ID and birthday the online access to results closed on the 20th of December.

This is how it looks on The Age website (from last year):
http://www.theage.com.au/vtacguide/
But in the paper, it is just set out as:
Smith, Jane, 3001, 12345 Smith, John, 3000, 12345 etc
-
If i selected "no" to publishing my offer, can i still change it?
I went on vtac and can't seem to find an option.
-

I think you still can. Should it be under the GAT options?
-
Yeah i've changed it :)
-
AAAAAAAAAHHH
SO the 13th January is the deadline to change that option
it does not mean you get offers any days earlier
ok so i think i'll just jump on Herald Sun website at 6.30pm monday 17th
and then, you know, START CRYING :( haaaaaa
edit: considering writing an email to VTAC for such a misleading thing on their wesbite :P
-
i work at Coles round the corner from my house, i asked today if we'd get the paper.
i was told we get the paper delivered in the morning only. no afternoon delivery :\

Yeah subagents won't get them, and only selected newsagencies will get them if they elect to stay open to sell them, but it's not compulsory for them to stay open
-
For those who were wondering, these newsagents were the ones that released a newspaper supplement last year.

Yeah I'll try and find out tomorrow from the boss as to whether there have been any publications RE: VTAC
-
I just change my publish in the newspaper prefrence today to "No", but i didnt know it close on the 13th. What is the chance that my course would be publish in the newspaper?
Vtac still allowed you to tick the boxes..

Just found this on the herald sun website. These are the newsagents releasing it this year http://www.heraldsun.com.au/news/special-reports/locations-for-tertiary-first-round-offers/story-fn4n9362-1225986325686
