Recently my friend received his IB score of equivalent 99.6 (43/45).
Apparently his teacher sent off a prediction of him getting 99.5 to universities...? T/F
If T, does VCE do this aswell? Do we get a predicted result and do we get to find out this?
-
False, unless it's required for a particular course application (eg one that is earlier etc.)

Med? Pretty sure it was for Med...
-
Typically medicine but it can be anything. If you apply interstate and they use a different system (eg that weird OP1/OP2 etc) your teacher might need to estimate your mark for that.

I think it was either Adelaide or UNSW. And he got a UMAT of 85%ile, so missed out on Monash, maybe since his UMAT was pretty strong a university asked for a predicted ATAR?
-
No idea. Any offer you get from that will be provisional though, you'll need to meet that score to keep the place

Sorry for my ignorance. But what is IB? :D

it's an international system of education thats done all round the world, people do it instead of VCE, look it up on google for more.

Your year 12 co-ordinator will give you a predicative ATAR.
If you're in the top half of MHS as of year 11, you'll get 99+, if not it'll be 95+ :P

Haha they dont want their kids getting let down because of Predicative ATAR (though there aren't many institutions that use it as a major influence). And I would say that half, if not more, of the students at mhs are capable of getting a score at 99.
Erm, I'm in Tier 1 8)

Yeah I've sort of posted it quite a few places and it's on my profile. I just don't feel the need to plaster it everywhere, ATAR is useless to me now :)

I've heard that a lot from ex- yr 12s... Only matters for a month before VTAC takes over, I guess

After a few years, you won't even remember it :)
