Title: Which hemisphere of your brain dominates?
Post by: iNerd on January 18, 2011, 05:14:08 pm: In light of preparing for Psychology this year I found hemispheric specilisation quite fascinating.

For those who don't know hemispheric specialisation refers to the specialisation and dominance of certain functions of the left and right cerebral hemispheres.

Take the test here to find out and post your result :)

My result

Well is it? It promotes an interesting discussion: would you rather be totally dominate in one (Burberry and I LOL) or have an even-ish split?

What does this mean?
Hahaha didn't you do Psych? :P Lol look at the chart it shows. Your right-brained so that means your better at non-verbal functions such as appreciation of art and music, creativity, perception and spatial skills etc. A left-brained person is in control of verbal and analytical functions, rational, logical, maths, science, sequential processing etc

Really? Hmm interesting, I'd say it was actually quite a good indicator for me, I'm more maths/science based anyway. I guess you could try multiple sites but this was one was quick and VN members are lazy :P

Same as ATAR, Burberry and Menang. I'm not surprised but there were many questions where I hesitated. For those, I enjoy doing both options but I just answered with the option that gave it any slight edge.

Post by: Eriny on January 18, 2011, 06:14:55 pm: It's better to be bilateral generally because if you are dominant on one side than if you get a stroke or something impacting that hemisphere, you're in much much more trouble than someone who is bilateral.

And with that in mind, this was my result:

I do think that the Left Hemisphere/Right Hemisphere thing can get quite over-emphasised to the point where it doesn't reflect the science any longer.

Your hemispheres aren't exclusive - they communicate through the corpus callosum.

The whole POINT of this is to see which DOMINATES...obviously it's hard ???

I'm pretty even when it comes to all these brain and personality tests. I'm listening to music at the moment... I wonder if this has influenced my choices.

Huge overgeneralisation though, but certain functions are based in certain hemispheres
