Who else here got invited to join 'Leadership in a Technological Environment' and is going to the residential thing 16-18th feb?
I don't know anyone else doing it so i'm looking for company hahah
-
WTF is this LOL
-
I think it is for anyone who got a scholarship that is doing engineering. Whether it be Women in Engineering/Engineering Excellence/Regular Engineering/Merit & Equity, I think they all have to do the leadership program.
-
TAIGZ YOU IN BRAH?
-
Nope :( I'm not on any academic scholarship
-
you again 98.40! LOL
yeah i got invited to LITE program.. i feel so ceebs towards it

You gotta go man... LETS DO IT :D
It sounds kinda gay but it'd be good for future careers and a good chance to grab some industry scholarships too

One of those days That I wish I was a Girl. Just for the scholarship =/

man we missed out by 0.1 from being in this =.=
-
I got in, too. I'm deferring it till next year though.
-
I'm going, the descriptions sound pretty vague so I'm not entirely sure what it's about, but atleast I'll get to meet some cool eng people :P
-
I think there are about 60 people there each year, and for some reason the ratio of male to female is not totally disproportionate (you actually meet women there, at this point start questioning whether you are actually enrolled in engineering). Definitely go to the camp, awesome experience, also the fact that you'll meet 99% of all women in engineering (there isn't much incentive for a girl to do engineering unless she's getting bribed for it :P). I've since left the program because I ceebs keeping up with the events (once every two weeks during uni), but enwiabe can tell you more about it =]
-
looking forward to meeting 99% of the girls in engineering (:
-
LOL
-
Missed the fuckin deadline... =/
-
aww how come?
-
Missed the fuckin deadline... =/
I'll see you next year then... :p
-
I sent the chick an email saying something along the lines of "shit i missed the deadline, ill do it next year for sure". No reply...
-
What's the requirement for this?
I got 98.7 but haven't heard anything about it
PS: I'm doing eng/sci at monash

You are guaranteed an entry spot in the LITE program if you were awarded a scholarship this year. You still have a chance to enter next year though.

Ah that's good then, I don't think 99.9 enter score is really a great measure of leadership potential anyway.
http://www.adm.monash.edu.au/scholarships/scholarshipoffers.html
According to that site, the 'monash university engineering scholarship' has not yet been given out... so people who receive that won't get the chance to do the program- seems a bit odd.
I guess I'll apply next year, sounds pretty worthwhile for employment prospects.
-
It's a bit odd that it's based on Scholarships though. That would indicate that the whole leadership thing is based on ATAR, but on the other hand people with equity scholarships also do it, even with lower score :S
I'll apply for it next year though nonetheless.

Nearly everything at Monash is based on the ATAR, not only the leadership program. And, they assume people with equity could have gotten higher ATARs if it wasn't for the circumstances they were facing.

The scholarship is one way to enter the LITE program (albeit the easiest with guarenteed position and minimal paperwork). There are other pathways to enter the program later on (a few places are offered for engineering students in second year).
Regardless, they want to make sure their time/effort are not wasted, high ATAR is the low risk group :P
