Title: A+ range?
Post by: iamdan08 on June 11, 2008, 05:38:07 pm
So what do you think the A+ range will be this year? Last year it was 76.5/90 (i'm pretty sure)! How much do you think it will go up?

This year's paper wasn't that hard. I would expect it to be in the proximity of 80, although not above 80.

How do they determine the A+ range anyway?

They figure out the median score and the variance of the scores then set the A+ range for the top 10% (i think it may be?) of the student population, whatever that is.

Yeah i'm pretty sure it's 10%!

I think it will probable be around 78-79. There were a few tricky questions!

I was talking to one of our physics teachers, who said that the range will be about 76+. He isn't my teacher so I'm not sure how he is involved, but I'm pretty sure he has a lot to do with the marking scheme etc.

No to half marks (unless the question was worth more than 1 mark to start with)

Thats still a good score :D

i used the mass of the tugboat not the ship for the 1st question

i used the length of the spring not the displacement, somehow thats how i got 1 joule it looked liek a good number so i didnt question it -__-"

the advertising board one, calculated the vertical height from the top of the parabola to where it hit, >_>

and got both of the ke gpe graphs wrong,  =/. shoudlve gunned this one. i found last years easier for some reasn as i tested my self on it like a prac exam.

I felt this exam was harder than last yrs. Purely on the fact last yrs was easy. Did people see that to?

In some ways i felt it was. There were some tricky questions this year so we might not so the A+ range move up to much!. However i think the electronics section was easier this year!

This years exam was much easier than previous nears but it was still tricky so the A+ range might only go up by a bit.

Yeah, it was definitely easier but I think scope for careless mistakes was higher.

Parts of it were definitely tricky.

I am new to this forum.  I was looking at the solutions they published in the itute and found I lost 10 marks.  I really love to get an A+ (like everybody else)  But I always think the range for A+ will change this year as everybody did the paper very well.

10 marks should still be A+ :)

it wasnt much different from last year's [the difficulty was similar], the A+ cutoff will be in the mid-high 70s or something :P
