Any of you guys have any tips on how to study for Chem?
I've just read all the chapters of Unit 3 and started doing questions daily.
Anyone know if I can improve on this?

What do you think is the best way to study for chem? Because that is the best way.

Try questions from other texts too (maybe even uni texts?)

What i plan to do is to laminate the periodic table, electrovalency table and other general rules, etc and stick them in a high visibility area around the house: bedroom posters, toilet reading material (lol)...
Have them laminated so that you can use a white bord marker and write all over it if you need to.
For Unit 3 AOS 2 - organic chem - use a whiteboard to sketch out the structural formulas: much better than using pencil/rubbbing out when you make a mistake.
Data booklet is a must.
Start prac exams around end of term one (not now). Throughout term two, you should pace yourself with maybe 1-2 exams per week; until then, study ahead using old checkpoints/neap/A+ notes/other textbooks.
Make sure that you know each topic in depth and practice relevant (and sometimes harder uni-level) questions. For exams, make sure each is completed to as much accuracy as possible and possibly get some else to mark it for you.
Sometimes study groups work - teaching others, i find, is an extremely effective way of realising how much you actually know your stuff.
Good luck to us all!

Just read and do a few questions through the school term - then, approaching exams, do 10-15 practice exams.. Worked for me. ;)
Mod edit: Fixed grammar. ;)

and what did that get you, "chuck"

I wrote notes, did all the worthwhile questions from the Heinemann text, and started practice exams about a month before each exam.
And I think it'd be a good idea to extend your knowledge beyond VCE. Try to find a university text book and just read through.

Oh is this Fady who got DUX and gave a speech at
our school? :D
Awesome speech by the way, and how did you happen
to study for methods ?
-
Bring everything down to principles!

That's me. :)
And thanks. I'm glad you liked the speech.
I don't think I know who you are, though. lol
Again, I just did the questions from the text book and practice exams. I did not make a bound reference, or wrote any notes really. I found they were a waste of time. One piece of advice; make sure you take time to minimise errors. At the higher end, this really makes a difference, and I regret not paying accuracy more attention.

agreed, keeping asking why and understand the fundementals :) Oh and practice a shitload, the mroe questiosn you do, the more exposure to questions you get :)

Haha lol this Shivesh guy, I don't know who this Fady is but he
doesn't go to your school, you go to Haileybury College.

My speech must've been pretty awesome to reach you. :P
EDIT: I'm assuming that Kaushik told you? :)
-
Haha yeah how did you know?
edit: removed someone told me to remove it lol :P
-
Just a guess. haha
Kaushik is an amazingly dedicated student. I have no doubts that he will do very well.
-
Yeah I like his enthusiasm; he called me several times asking me for advice on how to study for Methods and Bio - haha, i told him to join VN :D after giving him advice
-
He emailed me asking for advice. And I told him to join VN too! :)
There aren't many students (at my old school anyway) with the same amount of enthusiasm as Kaushik.
