Just curious, also thought everyone could use this thread to make sure they're staying on track throughout the year. No slacking off!
My class is up to generation, I've done around 2 pages so far...
-
Generation of ideas too!
-
Lol it's nice to say not to procastinate, but for the record i've always been a procastiantor.
I did not start my folio until mid-april (when the IPL began)
Then i would spend about 3-4 hours each night watching cricket and working on my vis comm folio - in the end i had about 4 full folios worth of work and got full marks -
Do not worry if you have not done too much by now - VCD is just one of those subjects where procastinating comes naturally - just dont leave TOO MUCH for the end
-
You started in mid april? wow.. What were you doing from Feb-april?! Our teacher already collected our folios for marking (to check our progress) and gave it back..
-
>mid april
VHAT?
yeah didn't your teacher do folio checks? mine already wants us to move onto development uggghh
hmmm but really can't afford to procrastinate cause i'm doing art as well. lol im growing out of it but
-
Well you guys have the right apporach, i have to say - atleast your mid year exams will get mroe attention if you finish your folios early :) that is if you have a mid year exam.
Im just saying that IF YOU HAVE NOT DONE much, then don't worry, you still have time ;) , but it would be good to have done something by now...
-
The problem with your folios is that you need to spend time on them (I probably spend too much on them) but you also need to make sure you are looking over the past exams so that you can used to the exam layout.
Try and get used to the time management of the exam which is what tripped up many people last year since there was a lot more content than usual.

Hi there, I have a few VCD queries.
I just did my first professional practice sac, and for media I wrote inkjet (since he used a printer to print the book once completed(illustrator)) Is this wrong? Would I get a mark off for adding that if it was? There was a list.
Also is 'printing' a method? Printing as in printing from a printer.
I'm scared I thought too logically and literally about it.. and put printer information when it really didn't require that.
Would it be wrong/right?
-
Well, if it was illustrated I would have said paints/watercolours/inks/whatever was made to produce the original, plus then inkjet printing as a media, printing still counts as this.
I assume just saying it was mass produced for consumer purchases through the utilisation of inkjet printer, would also be correct.... depends how many marks the question was?
-
It was one mark, do you think I would get it wrong?
Basically the question specifically required us to LIST the METHODS, so i listed them and included 'printing' (intended to be mass production style printing for retail purposes - but i didn't state this, just the word printing)
and to list the MEDIA; I just wrote 'ink' (intended to mean like inkjet printing ink)
Listing for a mark wouldnt require further elaboration since 'ink' and 'print' have multiple meanings right?
Sorry I'm just really stressing atm :( 1 mark does evil things to me
-
Don't stress! It's only one puny mark!
If it said list rather than explain and is only one mark (half a mark per media/method), I think it would be right.
-
materials - ink, toner (laser printing), inkjet printing
methods - printing - that is the key word, inkjet/laser printing need not be mention, if u have PRINTING written down for method, you are fine
-
Do you guys think 15~20 pages is good enough for now? I'm stressing so bad.
-
Yes. That's probably how long my folio is up to generation.
-
Are any of you starting to brainstorm/ work on your final or final presentation? I'm doing a magazine front cover and page for my product.. what are you guys doing for your product too?
-
im going to do an illustration in a similar fashion to this:

-
I'm still up to development .. my product revolves around a LOT of artistic illustration so .. I'm slowly moving through it. I'm thinking of finishing U3 during the holidays?
Feelin' the stress!
-
o shieett just started doing development. im behind aren't i?
-
I'm planning on redoing some pages since I have the holidays, so nah you're definitely not behind.. we have time!! :D .. probably will only start the few days before sch starts x.x
-
MY FOLIO IS IN :D :D :D :D
Now for unit 4... :l
-
Mine too! So sick of unit 3. What're you doing for u4?
-
Not too sure, I'm tossing up between architecture, music festival stuff, or cosmetics :)
You?
-
We have to decide our unit four folio topic by tomorrow. Thinking of a skyscraper (could be a little difficult to sketch if it has a really organic shape), transport vehicle, charity/political ads, beverage, fragrance, organic store, clothing store etc. Too many options and barely any time to choose; I'm scared I'll regret my choice.
September 9th suddenly seems so close (due date).
-
just finished my final presentation! folio's due in on friday.... gonnna diiee
-
Hope you got it all done :) My final piece was finished within the hour of it being due- a few days before seems organised!

definitely. agreed. I did a poster for my final presentation.
my teacher: yeah, you can't submit it in like that.
then i spent the entire day mounting. it turned out ugly.
-
What marks did you guys get for ya folio? Very happy with mine!
-
Yay! Unit 3 results: 60/60!
Now we're in the middle of our Unit 4 folio... Gah, can't slack off now...
-
Finally finished unit 4 final!
-
Unit four was due not yesterday but the Friday before for us. I ended up creating renders of a skyscraper and superimposing them on photographs of Melbourne's skyline, as well as creating a logo and brand imagery. There are a few minor additions I wish I'd made, but overall I'm pretty happy with the result : ]

YES. FINISHED. LIFE IS GOOD. no wait. ...exams.
