I remember zero from chemistry. I tried to look through the lecture notes for tomorrow and was like 'lol, valence electron oh my god it jumps shell three four oh what where /close and cry/'.
Tooooo long since I did year 12. Too long.

Ha, that was year 11 stuff. I'd forgotten it all when I was doing year 12.
10am start for me tomorrow too, then 4 lectures in a row. I'm actually looking forward to getting into it though. :D

REALLY? OH MY GODDDDD. I feel even older.
Well I hope I don't die from knowing literally nothing tomorrow, the only thing I'm confident I can actually do is Biology because I kept tutoring but I know I suck at physics and Chemistry seems to be a black hole.
We shall see!

Yay for 2:15 start on Mondays :) I love my timetable

Just a quick question, for bio prac tomorrow. Do we need a lab coat?

Looking in the Laboratory workbook, it says you do need a lab coat for the introductory prac (along with slides, cover slips permanent marker, etc)

Nah definitely not ready. Nor am I excited...much...

Yeah, Mondays off are awesome :D
Me too!* :D
9am starts Tuesday to Friday. Being a morning person, I just want to marry my timetable.
*Only if I don't have to hand in any assignments on Mondays. If I do, then I'll come to uni and "study".

Was half an hour late to Physics lecture because I COULD NOT FIND A PARKING SPOT AT THREE (3) DIFFERENT TRAIN STATIONS.
Planned to be at uni half an hour early.
Good.

You were at the 10am one? I think i saw you come in late then..
We didn't really do anything before you got there, it was just about 'how to succeed' and the like:p

Lol, yep.
And he like, stepped back when I was trying to cross the room. Was amused.
Okay awesome, do not need to know how to succeed.
-
anyone in the physics advanced class understand how to work out that question he asked us in the end about the age of the universe?

Thank you. :)
Did you actually need it in the end? I was speaking to some people who
did the intro prac today and they said they were fine without the coat.
It definitely says in the prac handbook that you need it, but reading through what you actually need to do in the prac, it doesn't seem as though you have to do anything that would neccesitate a coat?
-
You're meant to wear a coat in all pracs as a safety precaution, if people were allowed to not wear it it was probably because the demonstrator was being nice due to start of semester

Well, for my prac, all we had to bring was ourselves and lab workbook.
-
Almost every post in this forum in the last couple of days has been about lab coats. Yes you need it. Buy it.
-
There's a biology prac handbook? Wheeeere. I keep missing books.

It's in that green workbook you need to get from the Bookshop.
-
I just changed my timetable. Changed a 1PM tute to a 10Am one. Is this a problem, admin wise?

Physics was fun as haha, that and ESD1 are gonna be so good. Calc is boring though, I can see myself skipping heaps of lectures for that.

yea physics lecture was the most enjoyable easily. Which one did you go to? 12am by any chance?

That's one late physics lecture :D
Chem was a spin out. sp3 orbitals. wtf.
-
Chem was a spin out. sp3 orbitals. wtf.
Agreed.
I've just done some more reading on orbitals, I vaguely remember how to write out the subshells from... year 11 chem?

Yeah, after the lecture I read the electron section from my old year 11 text, then read the sections from our organic chem book.
I think I'll try to prep a bit more for the next lecture so I don't just sit there blankly staring at the slides.

Don't worry, every first year will freak out at chemistry and how different it is from high school

I came home and read the textbook and now I geddit.

SO glad I'm not doing chem anymore :D

For Biol...do you do the ILT/introduction to biological drawing before or after the Introductory Prac?
-
Well I was looking forward to going back to uni, until about 10 minutes into my first class. Wow was that boring. Now it's back to hanging out for holidays!
-

after i think
-
I thought so too gathering from the slide in the presentation where attending the prac is first on the list but wanted to be sure.

My psychology lecture was so full to the extent 30 people or more were sitting at the back and in the aisles!
Will this be a usual occurrence or is it just due to the fact people can change subjects within the first two weeks of uni?

Mine for biopsychology was so full that similar happened but the lecturer said its against the rules to sit on the floor/aisle so quite a few people were asked to leave.. This sucked, since I'm coming from the Barry building to the medical sunderland so i will never be early..

I guarantee that it won't. :) If you go the 10 am lecture, I can also guarantee you that that stream will always have a higher turnout than the 5:15 P.M. stream.
You'll find that as time goes on, students (*coughs* Arts *coughs*) start wagging psych lectures in the hope that they can wing the exam.

Were you at the 3:15 lecture? It was packed as.
Eh, last year the lectures emptied quite a bit after a few lectures so it shouldn't be too bad.

I would try to defend that but from I gather so far ... it's true :P

Argh! Well I really, really hope people start getting lazy. I hate having to sit at the back. It sucks!

(jealousy seeps through my veins) :D
