Today's news:
http://www.smh.com.au/news/national/worm-is-giving-uni-students-a-wriggle-on-in-lectures/2007/11/08/1194329413280.html
Roy Tasker, a chemistry lecturer in the school of natural sciences, said the devices were particularly useful in boosting participation among international students who were shy speaking English. Each student is given a machine like a calculator with numbered keys that allow them to punch in their answers to his multiple choice questions. Their responses are then transmitted to his laptop.
seems like an interesting idea.

With the article on MBAs, would you say if you had no prior economic knowledge and little idea of how business ran that an MBA would be the way to go if you wanted to set up your own business after specialising in a career and taking an idea that you wanted to manufacture?

No, MBA's cost money. Lots of money. Typically, you would be better off using that money as capital for the business. MBAs typically train people for employment in management or finance, not so much entrepreneurship.

This is actually quite significant:

Casual teachers inflating grades: academics
http://www.smh.com.au/news/national/casual-teachers-inflating-grades-academics/2007/12/06/1196812922150.html
"THE rising proportion of casual lecturers at universities has been linked to inflated grades for students.
This is because there is often nobody to moderate the way that each marker is assessing students' work and to ensure all students are being judged by the same standards."

Graduate Careers Australia’s (GCA) annual Australian Graduate Survey (AGS) is a study of the activities of new higher education graduates around four months after the completion of their qualifications. In the 2007 AGS, new graduates were surveyed regarding their major activities, including full-time study, full- or part-time employment, seeking employment or their unavailability for work or study.
GradFiles provides information about recently qualified bachelor degree graduates for students who are considering higher education. It will also be helpful for their parents and the secondary school community. A bachelor degree is an initial higher education qualification and is usually the first qualification after secondary school.

"Seven-year-old seeks university place"
jeebers creepers! :o now that kid's got brains. I wonder how long it'll be before his first uni party hangover...
Hope he enjoys what's left of his childhood though, with that kind of talent he might run a little short on playtime.
-
i think hes lost his childhood already... i mean cmon A levels at 7 years old =.= the competition in normal education in s'pore is enuf to kill sum1 d!
-
I hope he maximises the use of his talent, and doesn't delve into too much nihilist philosophy that could possibly lead to suicide (i.e.: ignorance is bliss, stupid stuff like that).
Pragmatism and existentialism please :)

As a substitute to the table in the article which appears to be missing, here is a screenshot of the table from the original source.

Yay, chemical engineering seems to get paid not bad for starting salary (but I'm not really sure about how my salary will progress as my career develops).
-
It will stagnate at $60k. Sorry. :( jk :P With that commerce degree, you'll be in a management position earning >$200k in no time.
