Holidays have started, so anyone going to bother? ;D ;D
-
I've already done a couple :P

A bit of both

I've printed out about 8-10 at school, and the plan is to start doing some over the holidays. If i haven't covered the course in class yet, then maybe i can learn it myself, or leave those questions for another time.

Yep same here, i plan to get through 08 checkpoints then start doing some trials.

I'm going to try and learn AOS2 over the holidays... then maybe do about 2 practice exams...
But I'm not sure that will actually happen :P

XD Same same! I hope to do at least one trial even if its open book :P
-
yeah just do open book exams with old exams (within the study design)
how many exams totalled up will you folks do? for chem ? [ 30? ]
-
Ill do as many as i can which would probably be around 20~ depending on how many practice ones i can get.

You should be fine, it's all on Enzymes/DNA/Proteins, so doing Biol will be a major advantage for you (unfortunately :P)

Yeah I've got about 30ish, so I think you have all of them haha

Guess I should start too. We've finished chapters 1~12 so far, and it's expected that we do one practise exam. I plan on revising all the stuff we've covered so far, learning it properly and making sure I understand it, then tackling all the questions in the Chemistry Workbook, then doing maybe 2 practise exams these holidays. I'm decked out with all my other subjects at the moment, and they take definite priority because of looming SAC's when I get back.
-
its great that everyone is so keen! planning to do AOS2 aswelll!! Sadly i only have vcaa papers, would somebody please be able to share/post some of your exams papers? Would really appreciate it :)
-
Anyone finished the Unit 3 course already?

Hopefully by end of this holidays, 4 chapters more to cram. >;

Our school is just finishing up on chapter 8 but I've managed to learn up to chapter 10... how should I tackle enzymes, DNA, protein, pathways and medicine?... They seem much harder. :S
-
Hmmm, just go for it. I haven't done Biol, and I'm coping fairly well with the exam Q's related to DNA/Enzymes etc, if you have a look at exams they don't ask anything to out of the ordinary.

For most of that stuff reading the textbook should be sufficient. These topics are only brief and pretty straight forward
-
Practise exams questions on these parts will always be repetitive/similar to each other so you will get the hang of it.
-
You may as well start with checkpoints questions and the AOS 1 topic test from lisachem (taken from Cleoxo's awesome database). The most important thing at the moment is to solidify stuff from AOS 1, practice exam-style questions and read up in your textbook so you're prepared for AOS 2.

Pretty much Biology helps with all of Chapter 12, 13 and part of 14 (Heinemann).

I've started practice exams for bio, haven't done any VCAA ones, about 6 so far. Average of 60-80% which is alright for now
This is a chem thread....

+1, at least bio has some uses!

I don't really think the Bio section goes too in depth though, I've never done Bio but it's very manageable IMO for a non-bio person such as myself :P

Yeah you really don't need any bio knowledge to understand all the concepts well :P

Yeah, and from the exams I've done, they seem to ask the same questions quite often...

It means we wont have to learn them :P
I am yet to start a prac exam :/

1995 :o
I bet it had some strange questions haha
And are you asking me about marks? Umm, generally 8-10 for a hard exam, or 0-3 for an easy exam.

Warning to everyone. If I catch you not working, I will pester you - as these two have so evidently shown above...
Just joking, I really don't mind, I'm not THAT scary

How do I sign up for the Luken93 motivation program?

How do I sign up for the Luken93 motivation program?
It's $299 per subject per semester.
But if you call in the next 15 minutes you can get it for only $29. That's right, a crazy $29!
Don't hesitate; call now!

That number is missing a digit!
But luken nice work on actually starting, I'm assuming uni chem is making this all seem much easier?

Add me on facebook - but once it's done there's no turning back (unless of course you delete me)

Cheers mate. Umm not really, I finished the course over the holidays but UniChem doesn't really go much into VCE Chem - a bit of Organic here and there but that's about all...

anyone have any idea whether we're meant to know the equilibrium stuff and about endo/exothermic reactions?
or is that stuff completely out of the Unit 3 course now?

Don't need to know it at all

Yeah that's gone, although I believe it's in Unit 4 taiga?
-
yep definitely thermodynamics and equilibria is unit 4

Yeah huuuge in unit 4. Pretty interesting concept though :)
-
Coolio
Let's just get through Unit 3 though, OK?
-
NO....far from it

Done four these holidays, which is good for me.
