I'm talking about the addictive games, i.e Maplestory ;)
Do/Did you play during VCE? If so, how do/did you manage it?
-
COD is addictive. Our dux of last year (99.90) played over 600 hrs. So yeah, its possible.
-
Yes!! DOTA during holidays and to manage my addiction I uninstalled it during exam period :D
-
LOL I play both DOTA and Maple :D
However, I did limit myself to 1-2hrs a week towards the exam period for methods last year.
-
League of Legends!!~ Come and play~.
-
I played anywhere between 10 and 30 hours a week, sacrificed my sleep more than my study :p
-
YES. Probably not maplestory though its addictive! I had to stop but going back on when Year 12 ends...
-
(3-7)hrs of dota on weekdays, 6-10 on weekends =D(up until swotvac)
going to a bad school sort of help though cause you can get ranked highly in sac's without much effort, then just cram towards year-end lolol. Thats what i did anyway :P could've done much better but meh ;D
-
I clocked up about 200 games of Starcraft 2, and beat the campaign back in year 12. Also beat two Super Robot Taisen games.
-
i did around 10-11 hours of dota a day back in year 10, but gave up for VCE starting from year 11, wasn't worth picking WCG over VCE :P

DOHHHHHHHHHHHHH-TARRRRRRRRRR
That is all.
-
It can be done. Should it be done? Well that's a whole different question.
-
I personally just tried to get it out of my system during the holidays. If you're going to game, something more casual is probably better. I find DotA especially difficult to just give up and step away from. If you lose a match, or especially have a leaver in your game, it's almost impossible to step away until you fit a good game in - which invariably takes up to another hour or more to do.
-
I play League of Legends, which I said before... I usually limit myself to a game a night, right after everything has been done. It works well. I also play elite-level Ragnarok Online in a top-tier guild, and that's harder to step away from than anything else...

Why did I downvote your post? Because, simply based on the secondary use of the word "can" as a verb makes it into a synonym for "may"; that is, you've basically asked the question he asked. Which is no help. Semantics, semantics...
Anyway, as for whether or not it is wise, it probably isn't worth sacrificing study or anything for games. But, it's impossible to cut out something you enjoy fully without finding detrimental effects in other areas of your life.

I played Ragnarok Online when I was 8 years old, and stopped recently last year, cause I grew out of it. Its the best game, ever.

Lol? The difference between can and may IS MASSIVE.
Can I go to the toliet? Yes you CAN - you have the ability
May I go to the toliet? Yes you MAY - go off to the toliet now kid.

Actually nvm, deleted my posts. Not in the mood for another technical argument with 'iamtom'.

Oh and try not to get addicted to gaming! I was from y7-8.
-
getting away from addictions is hard- gaming, internet, tv.. etc.
But really u jst need to be motivated.. just think about after vce and all the things you can do then :P

Agreed, I can usually get a game or 2 of starcraft 2 a night during VCE and now I just don't have the time to play any games. As long as you balance study and gaming it should be fine
-
so uni's harder than VCE.. omg FML
-
Played runescape for 5-6 hours on the night before the english exam.
and first year uni is a bit like year 10, you can do well if you want, but you dont have to. + there are some subjects that you can bludge your way to good marks (but not excellent marks)
-
so uni's harder than VCE.. omg FML
it really depends on ur course and units i guess.
but if you have 5 days a week course with semi-intense workload (like me) it might get hard.
i know some people who have 3 days, or even 2 days a week and it's a lot easier then
i guess it was a bit biased when i said uni = harder than vce, sorry :P
-
so uni's harder than VCE.. omg FML
all depends on the course, engineering/science/med is a killer while arts is piss easy (massive generalisation :P)
-
Arts is fkn hard LOL
Nty 5000 word essays with referencing every two lines, I prefer matrices

Were you joking? Because I would be serious in finding Martrices easier then Arts. :(
-
I think arts is hard....

Please, I played fallout 3 for the entire day before my english exam.
I spend more time playing video games now than I did during VCE, you will too once you adjust your study methods and habits etc. to uni
