Connect Education is a new group running revision lectures for unit 3 - run by high-achieving students at a very affordable price. Only $26 for 4 hours. We believe that students, who sat the exams themselves, are capable of giving valuable insight and advice, especially on how to answer VCAA questions.
sam.utute, lexitu and I have banded together to run lectures now and at the end of the year.
4 hour lectures (at RMIT university and Queen's College at Melbourne University) aim to cover the most vital parts of the course, give advice on how to ace the exam and of course run through examples of important and challenging questions. Sam is running the accounting lectures and I am running the Biology and Chemistry lectures - we look forward to meeting you on the day. There are only 50 seats for each lecture, and they are running on the 4th and 5th of June.
All details can be found at www.connecteducation.com.au and questions can of course be pmed or emailed to [email protected] :)
Eddie :)

Very interested in the accounting lecture!
-
haha nice, giving p2g a run for their money :P
-
Yep, although this idea was conceived well before we realised that PTG would be losing customers.
Very interested in the accounting lecture!
The notes are awesome (a sample can be downloaded from the website) :)
-
Great to see interest in the Accounting lecture :D Can't wait to meet you guys in person!
-
Hmmm, very tempting...

If you have any suggestions/advice/tips/criticism etc. please let us know. We value any, and all feedback :)

What's happening with the English tutoring? It's listed under Subjects but I'm not sure what the arrangements are :S Thanks!!

Do you mean lectures? Our English lectures will commence during the winter and spring holiday periods. We have an awesome lineup of lecturers but the finer details are being worked out. Our focus right now is delivering for the mid-year exams. As for tutoring, each lecturer is a tutor so you're more than welcome to seek their services :)

In 100% honesty I think that you should probably have skipped on the unit 3 lectures, there are 4 weeks to go, most students have booked their lectures, and a lot of people will not want to go so close to the exam.
A poor turnout for unit 3 could leave you fellas financially crippled (I'm not too sure what your financial capital is), and possibly worse off for preparing unit 3/4 (or unit 4) lectures at the end of the year. That said, if you guys think you can do some serious marketing/promotion over the next few weeks, or have already done so, it's definitely something that you can succeed with.
That said, loving the website design, the lecturer lineup, and the price! Definitely something that you students out there should hop onto.

Thanks taiga :) Father enwiabe actually said something very similar to us when we met up after the VCE and Careers Expo. It's definitely valid and we're admittedly rushed in our marketing and that sort of thing. We've given ourself a smaller crowd due to our lateness but having said this our current excitement might have faded if we held off. Also, Sam already has a set of notes prepared and Eddie being the genius (no connotations intended :P) that he is can organise some notes pretty quickly. Our venues haven't set us back too much so we're not going to be left poor. The main issue is the marketing so we really have to get cracking. You're pretty spot on with your critique, we weighed up the positives and negatives and our enthusiasm probably pushed us into launching now :)
-
Very nice.. But why no maths? :P
-
Methods and Spesh are coming for sure :) The subjects there are only from the lecturers we've signed up (informally) so far. Speaking of which, would you like to do Maths? You're more than welcome to. PM me if you'd like to or would know anyone :D
-
Ahh I see. But I wasn't meaning that.
To be honest there are other people more qualified [and I think I would most likely make a terrible lecturer :P ].
Interesting thought though.

and I think I would most likely make a terrible lecturer :P
Our lecturers are engaging. We try and make it a fun and dynamic classroom. Expect humour, passion and vibrancy.
I think you hold these values? Maybe add sarcasm to it and you've got yourself a lecturer :P

As I mentioned to you Matty, you'd still be very valuable as a support lecturer seeing that you're engaged at a much higher level at university, but anyway, that's something for later :) Listen to Luken.
If anyone else would like to lecture for a subject or can recommend an outstanding student feel free to PM :D

Nice VN advertising :)
-
Not long to go now :) Our bookings close at midday on Friday so be sure to get in before then. The chem lecture is going to be close to a full house :D
-
4 spots left for Chem. 10 or so for Accounting.
We will probably sell out Chemistry (WOOT! :)), and get close for Accounting, so if you are still interested, make sure you book :D
-
Are the chemistry note's going to be available for sale soon? :P (I can't get to the lecture, but im interested in the notes ^.^)
-
Should be available for purchase by Friday.
A warning to anyone interested in Chemistry. Very, very few spots left...
-
One spot left for Chem, lucky last anyone?
-
Who's going from here to Chem? Apart from Eddie and I :P
-
I'm not too sure about Chemistry (we think there are at least a couple from VN), but there are 2 or 3 who are attending the Accounting lecture. It will be interesting to meet everyone on Saturday/Sunday :D
-
And we're sold out for Chem! Seats still available for our other lectures, get onto them :)
-
On the train heading towards melbourne now, anyone as pumped as I am!?
-
Would have loved to go, unfortunately just felt it was a tad too close to exams, and i've got SACs coming from all angles so i couldn't really take a day out :(
If theres good reviews (which i'm sure there will be) and its at the same price point next semester i will probably go
Good luck to the CE crew :)
-
Just wanna say congrats to the guys, really well organised, Eddie was great, and sam and lex were more than accomating at the front desk. Hope you guys can keep it going until at least the end of the year, as I'll be there :P
-
^ No surprise considering the talent involved in this organisation.
-
It was nice to meet a few VNers.
Great turnout as well for both Chem and Accounting :)
People attending were great. I actually enjoyed standing up and talking for 4 hours.
Can't wait for our next event :D
-
Yay, thanks so much for coming everyone and for the nice words from Luke and for Chris' excitement. Fair to say it was a success (our student feedback sheets confirm this). We will focus on expanding our offerings and improving our lectures further :)
For anyone who wanted to buy notes they are up on the site and can be mailed ASAP.
-
All the best guys :)
-
Can i just say -
that was the most beastly advertising strategy ever, almost everyone doing bio has gone onto the website!
-
We thought it was a nice way to contribute and direct some flow through the website :) Hope to see you at our end of year bio lecture Bazza!
-
Just thought I'd report the following from our mid-year lectures :) This is genuine data, unlikely certain other companies which use highly questionable data or devious questions. We asked students to rate our lectures on four qualities (1=poor, 2=fair, 3=good, 4=very good, 5=excellent).
Accounting
Lecture Presentation: 4.3/5
Lecture Content: 4.4/5
Lecture Helpfulness: 4.4/5
Lecture Notes: 4.7/5
Biology
Lecture Presentation: 4.6/5
Lecture Content: 4.8/5
Lecture Helpfulness: 4.4/5
Lecture Notes: 4.5/5
Chemistry
Lecture Presentation: 4.4/5
Lecture Content: 4.5/5
Lecture Helpfulness: 4.3/5
Lecture Notes: 4.2/5
The data speak for themselves. We also received plenty of feedback which we have used to improve our upcoming lectures. For example, we heard that students wanted a table or flip out desk to write on, so we're going to make sure that will happen. Lecture dates are going to be announced really soon for winter holiday prep :)
-
Well, I'm definitely hitting up your unit 4 lecture. Looking forward to it as much as you can look forward to another set of exams.
-
Haha, we'll try and make exams seem as exciting as possible! See you there :)
-
so many of the questions covered in the lecture turned up to be in the exam!
-
Yay! I'm glad it prepared you well then :)
-
Excellent news, though I must say that the lack of appropriate significant figures in that survey data is despicable :P
-
At least it's more accurate :P
-
Thanks to your smart aleck comment, rounding just made things look even better :P
-
I reckon we should just round up to 5 :P
-
Hahaha, I think we can also corroborate from this data that we have been "Voted Number 1 for Excellence and Quality in VCE Programs", better ring TSFX.
