So, like the topic subject, I'm going to be missing a week of class and most of the winter holidays because I'll be on holidays!
It's a little awkward timing, but it's a school history tour to France and Italy and with me being in love with Revs and Rens, I couldn't pass up the chance to go.
So, I will be missing a lot of work, especially since it'll be the start of Unit 4.
Any suggestions on how best to manage that?
I plan to catch up and revise solidly over the mid-years period (I have no midyear exams save the GAT) so that I'm secure in my Unit 3 content, but I realistically don't think I'll be able to do that as well as work ahead for Unit 4.
And I really don't want to be studying in Europe.
Is it really bad if I ignore VCE for three weeks? :(

Of course it is bad to ignore VCE for 3 solid weeks but in saying that you should be right. Skipping holidays doesn't matter. Does anyone do holiday homework anyway?
If its only a week of class go for it.

I don't think a week will be too bad, and for most people, a trip to parts of Europe is a once-in-a-lifetime! Usually nothing gets done first week back anyway. Enjoy! :)

Cmon, year 12 will mean little after your final exam.
THIS will be worth much more.

not really
As for your actual question, don't really have much to contribute. I think it comes down to the person and how they are able to manage their work themselves.

I'm going overseas as well and going to miss a week of school. I suppose it's not as bad missing year 11 than it is missing year 12 but I'm doing all my homework and work I'm going to miss before I go so I can chill when I'm away.

Thanks for your advice, guys! :)
Just to clarify - I wasn't asking if I should go, but rather if there were anything I should do before going.
(I'm definitely going - not gonna pass up the chance to visit some of those Western Fronts from WWI/II.)

I think you'll be fine if it's just the first week of unit 4 :)
I'm in the Ukraine atm, missing 3 weeks of unit 3 all up, and coming back a week before my Chemistry and Physics midyears.
I'm taking bets with myself to see whether i've screwed my life up :P

Really, you should know the answer to that yourself. You're going to miss three weeks. You should do extra study before you go, so you aren't three weeks behind when you get back. It should be easy to extend yourself for this short period of time, since you'll be fuelled by the promise of three awesome weeks away in sunny Europe.

Menang, there were two of us at your school last year who missed about 5 weeks due to overseas/interstate travel (and I ended up missing another week or so due to music related things). We both scored 99.90+. It was very stressful trying to get back into the swing of things, but if you've worked hard throughout the year, you should be in a good position.

Thanks appianway. :)
Just needed some reinforcement that I'm not commiting VCE suicide by going. :)

It probably seems like a 'bad' thing to do but I believe it will be the opposite.
As others have said these chances do not come up that often so when they do your best to take them and experience it all.
Will also be a good break from the stress of year 12. Have fun :D

Thanks Predator! :P
(btw, saying "thanks, predator" in my head feels creepy)
