Title: Protein Synthesis?
Post by: dou0014 on June 11, 2011, 10:24:04 pm
Protein Synthesis is part of unit 4. I know we need to know roles of different rna and dna and the bases etc. but we dont need to know the step by step process transcription etc??  We only did it on orientation briefly so it's a blur. And it hasn't been on any of th exams. Thanks.

Its not really that hard, all it is simply that dna is too big to leave the nucleur pore hence it is transcribed into mrna. Transcription is basically the process by which the nucleotide sequence of dna is copied into the nucleotide sequence of rna. Mrna reaches ribosomes where it is translated. And translation is simply the assembly of a polypeptide according to the nucleotide sequence of rna using the genetic "code".
