Title: Check these definitions for the role of stationary/mobile phases in chrom. plz:)

These are the definitions I intend on using for something like "what is the role/function of the stationary/mobile phase in x apparatus"....

STATIONARY: The stationary phase facilitates adsorption of compounds being run through the (apparatus) in the mobile phase. Compounds that are adsorbed more strongly onto the stationary phase will (either travel shorter distance or slower), and compounds that are less strongly adsorbed will (travel further or faster). In this way, compounds are separated and can be identified based upon their characteristic (Rt or Rf). 

MOBILE: The mobile phase both carries the components of the sample through the (apparatus) and impacts
on the (speed/distance) these components travel. This is because if a component is heavily attracted to the
mobile phase it will more easily undergo desorption off the stationary phase and hence travel (further/faster), and vice-versa. In this way, compounds are separated and can be identified based upon their characteristic (Rt or Rf). 

Can you see anything missing? Any poor-wording?
