Title: Synthesizing Amino Alkanes
Post by: schnappy on June 14, 2011, 08:39:01 pm
Hey all,
What's the go with making amino alkanes, for reaction pathway type questions. I'm guessing something to do with ammonium ions, but not entirely sure what to do regarding catalysts etc.

Thanks

Substitution reaction with NH3 using NaOH as a catalyst.

chloroalkane+NH3 --NaOH-->alkylamine + HCl
