I might be writing answers soon for "Connect Education". Depending on whether I can get a copy of the exam/be bothered :P If I do, answers should be available late today/tonight :)

Haha, thanks man, didn't realise you wanted to write answers but that'd be fantastic! :)

Haha I told Sam I might :P Completely forgot to mention it in that message, whoops..

All good, sounds good to me :D

just a question guys.. i'm a little paranoid.. i marked my multiple choice sheet (put a light cross next to the questions i needed to go back on) and forgot to rub it out.. would the machine register it as something foreign? :| it wasnt on any of the actual ABCD dots, just at the corner near the question number..

Should be right. If it was to the left and not near any ABCD dots then don't worry.

omgg i done the same, bt rememebred to rub it off rite at the end

No worries :)
They're finished! Now just the wait to upload them onto the connect education website.
So check it out very soon guys. I'm guessing they should be up on the website in around 20-30 minutes..
Sorry if it makes anyone upset, I personally hated looking at solutions after exams. But it's all part of the fun I guess :P Just learn from your mistakes with unit 3 and build up on it for unit 4.
-
thanks heaps man

Do you have the exam paper we can refer to as well? thanks :)

Do you have the exam paper we can refer to as well? thanks :)
I've incorporated aspects of the exam paper questions into some of the responses.
The solutions are quite comprehensive so you should be able to remember what the question was relating to/what you've written.
I don't have a scanner to go through the entire paper, otherwise I probably would scan the paper for everyone. I'm sure somebody will scan it by tomorrow anyway.
-
so where can I get the answers to the exam? =D sorry, im lost..
-
so where can I get the answers to the exam? =D sorry, im lost..
Go to the connect education website.
http://connecteducation.com.au/
They should be there on the homepage in 15-20 minutes or so.. But I'm not sure when cos it all depends on when lex gets my email and uploads them.
So just keep refreshing until then :P :P
P.s. I can't upload the document here btw.
-
Any chance you can just link to the document?
-
sooo are they going to be up any time soon?
-
Just texted them and apparently they're being uploaded now!
Should be up any minute now.. Keep refreshing guys!! :P

goodwork with the answers but woulnt question 31 have been better for words at the start of the list only as they had a 90 second interval?
-
yea i got that for 31
-

I thought they had 90 seconds to memorise them and were then tested immediately? have I misread the question?
-
shiitt i think your right
-
"Immediately following the 90-second study period, Dr. Unglik asked the participants to use free recall to say the words they could remember from the word list."
Sorry guys but the solutions are accurate there :(
-
slumdawg would they accept both state and context dependent cues? i added both because i thought it was out of 3 marks.. am i wrong?
-
yep i remember specifically reading that over and it said tested "immediately" after 90 second
-

If you wrote enough for context then you'd probably get the marks.
I personally don't think they'd accept state as they didn't specifically refer to your actual state as a cue, the focus was on the room hence context. However if you appropriately justified state then you could get a mark. Because it says "under the same conditions", so you could say they should be doing their study in a nervous state to match the state they'll be in during the real test.. But the max you could get for talking bout state is 1/2. Full marks needs a mention of context dependent cues I would think.
-
i wrote enough for both.. i said environmental setting and stuff.. the problem i have is not linking the answer back to the bloody scenario --> my biggest downfall --> my death T.T i hope they're nice this time around..

Sam's right; they were immediately tested..which made me choose "words at the end of the list are recalled better than words in the begginning and middle..." (is this wrong??)
edit: oooops sorry didnt read comments abovee

Slumdawg, another query what if i wrote aphasia is a language impairment or disorder. and thats all.. i didnt write deriving from damage.. fml

The main thing they're looking for is that it's a language disorder.
I think it'll be a 50/50 for the brain damage bit as to whether they'll be strict on it. It really depends on how many people put what. If a big enough proportion DID write "resulting from brain damage" then it means there's a bigger chance they'll be strict about it. Hopefully for your sake it's only the language part they'll be after.

sweet as but do you actually have questions on multi choice? i forgot what it was related to so kinda hard for a few questions to estimate :) thanks mate.
-
disregard previous post, didn't read whole thread
-

PM me the exact questions and I could type a couple of them out for you.
Unfortunately I don't have a scanner so I can't put up all the MC questions. The solutions do give you cues though :P to help you remember the question.
-
ohh they have, bt im kicking myself for one mc i changed in the last min, frm the right answer to the wrong one,, argggg... bad desicion
-
Slumdawg, for the p value q i basically wrote exactly what you wrote but i didn't include statistical significance. was this needed for the mark? :| i heard it might be
-
for the first time i actually wrote that.. and umm, a frinds of mine sed she jst wrote statistically significant, without giving figures, wat do u reackon she'd get?
-

I'd say probably deduct 1 mark there as you can only conclude things based on inferential statistics (hence the p value). But if you wrote everything else then that's not too shabby, 1/2 :)
-
Slumdawg you think theres a chance the cut-off for an A+ will be drastically lower this year? (Last yr it was like 13.5 marks lost or something)

I personally thought the 2011 was slightly easier than 2010. I'm predicting a cut off around 12. Having said that, the extended response will really determine the cut off. So it all depends on how they mark it. I doubt it'd go much further than 13.5 marks though. But this is only my personal guess though.
-
naaw hope its abit more!! bt that will do, however they cud i heard, coz of the 1st r of exteneded reponce

For questions 3 in short answer. I also wrote state-depended cues because I distinctly remember it saying the same conditions as well. That may mean the heat of the room causing the students to sweat or something.

Well yeah, if you justified it correctly like you just did above then you will be fine. However conditions might also mean it's a quiet just like in the test (hence context again), so you must justify your reasoning otherwise you won't get the mark.
-
hmm, actually good reasoning! bt doesnt state depend mean psychoogical, physiological
-

It can be both psychological and physiological. Main thing is that it's internal.
Context is just the more obvious answer, and a lot easier to write about.
-
YHH Totally, its wayy easier, nd obvious

for the O.H in the sa would u loss marks if u didnt write sleep was reduced by 5hrs for i wrote they were chronically sleep deprived like in the suggested solutions but my teacher was said u had to operationlize it?
-
i said 'operationalised' as 5 hours of sleep per night..
-

The suggested solutions did mention the reduced by 5 hours.
They probably would take a make off for that considering the op hyp was 3 marks, so they'll probably be extra picky. Just know for next time (and there definitely will be a next time as you'll have to write an op hyp/spot an op hyp in the unit 4 exam), it has to be as specific as possible.
-
i said 'operationalised' as 5 hours of sleep per night..
I'm hoping you mean have their sleep "reduced by 5 hours". Not "5 hours sleep" :S
-
wait didn't they have 5hrs sleep per night? :( i'm adamant i read 5 hrs ughhh can you check for me please? I don't have the exam T.T
-

Just checked it again it is "reduced to" So you're fine :) I accidentally read it as reduced "by". Sorry bout scaring you :P

I've got a question about the 6C for short answer about the two effects of chronic sleep deprivation.
I wrote droopy eyelids and hand tremors...is it possible I can get marks for those or no marks? :S

I'd probably say droopy eyelids has a better shot at being accepted then hand tremors. I would say hand tremors are leaning more towards total sleep deprivation, while chronic sleep deprivation doesn't necessarily mean total. Droopy eyelids however are probably associated with chronic sleep deprivation. So I think at least you've got 1 out of 2.But there's definitely potential they'll accept both so don't worry too much about it :)
