What did you guys think of your detailed study? My teacher said that structures and materials was ridiculously easy. I did relativity and thought it was at least twice as hard as it had ever been before, although still do-able.
-
How did you do relativity question 9? wouldn't you need to know the dilated time first?
-
Further Electronics was fairly easy.
-
yeh it was, except for one question which I had to guess, otherwise similar to previous years.

You work out the time that the scientists observe by using t = x/v and then find the proper time using the lorentz transformation.
-
oh...that's a lot easier than I thought, thanks

Which qn was this? Only qn I stuffed up was not noticing the 5.5V zener diode was in forward bias and therefore Vout would not be the 5.5V flat line.
-
structures and materials, was NOT easy at all...
-
the last one, i think i subed in the wrong value and got an answer in between two choices. what did you get for that q12)?
-
I put down C. Which was 1.6M. What did you get?
-
i think i ended up getting the 1.0Mohm but I'm preety sure im wrong.
-
I don't know if I'm right but I used the formula t=RC and got R=2600000 and since the equipment and resistor were in series I assumed that that resistance was the combined of the two, so I just subtracted 1000000 from that and got 1.6M
-
i chose D. 2.6Mohm, at 37% it was about 26 seconds.
That qn also had me stumped for a bit, assumed 37% was at the 30s mark, so I was getting 3.0M.
-
Yea I was unsure whether I should've subtracted 1000000 from it to take into account the 1M resistor that present. Made a last minute decision and chose C.
-
Oh crap, didn't notice it went back through the resistor again.
Damn... there goes another two marks from further electronics...
-
Don't worry I did absolutely stupid mistakes on my exam too. Hopefully I'll still be able to get an A+. According to itute though the correct answer is D, so you might be right and I'm wrong. :(
-
lol I reckon they prob made same mistake as I did and not notice that it went back through, if I noticed it, I would've chosen 1.6.

I made that exact same mistake and i was absolutely furious. The other mistake that I made was on question 2 where the voltage ripple would be neglieble because of the 50s time constant (possibly the most shifty question ever).
-
I got one question wrong on Structures (the shop sign one). I'm cool with only losing 2 marks for detailed :D
-
Further Electronics was fairly easy.
Wow - you found further electronics easy? To me, it was the most difficult part of our exam this year. I lost a maximum of 2 marks on the rest of the exam.

Same, but with relativity.
-
I'll have to agree. Further Electronics was fairly easy. Full marks for it, but I dropped a mark because I forgot to square root my answer when I was calculating the period of the planet. *Facepalm*
