Hi everybody!
Ten minutes ago I got a call from someone with an Indian accent claiming that there was something wrong with my computer. They told me to click the windows key from my keyboard and then click r, which led to the run tab. They then told me to enter "inf" and click okay. They said that I had some dangerous files and that I needed to go to this site in order to get rid of the files:
[link removed]
I clicked it however I sort of hung up straight after when they asked me what my computer ID was.
Anyway, I was wondering whether anybody knows whether they were legitimately trying to help me or if it was some scam? And with these sorts of things, how do you know? :-\

from my experience '.inf' can be a virus file and the fact that they wanted you to click that link must mean that they are trying to scam you, get you to download a virus etc.
-
Definitely a scam; my mum got called up too. If you run the program I think they get into your computer and steal stuff.
-
oh no...
they shouldn't allow these people to continue what they are doing.
isn't there any way to stop these sorts of people.
Menang, how did your mum react to the guy calling?

Just hang up. lol
Stuff like this always happens, you just gotta know what's real and waht's fake. If a company name sounds dodgy then they most probably are.
Did anything happen when you clicked that link?

no, just a website popped up and the guy on the phone was pressuring me to download the remote control thing on their website.
also I told one of the employees on the phone that I was a bit skeptical about everything that they were telling me and that I had doubts about their intentions. Somebody named Janet gave me reassurances that it wasn't a scam and that they were calling a whole bunch of people to. She gave me her company's number: 0390160638...and that I could check whether she was really an employee.
Though was too lazy to check whether it was actually hers but assuming that it is, is there any way I can get them arrested etc.

Yes it is a "virus" and a notorious one at that.
Do not hotlink such malicious websites on this website.
-
was it the "logmein" scam?
If so, just act like an idiot to them, be like "I dont have a computer," or say you use solaris etc. Just wast their time :D

LOL. Wtf. They called me as well!
I trolled the guy and said I had no money... He was like "Maybe you should sell your house" and hung up on me LOL.
But yeah, they're fags. Mass scam.
