Hi,
I was wondering i'm allowed to do a level 2 subject (https://handbook.unimelb.edu.au/view/2011/DASC20013) since there are no prerequisites?
Thanks.

You can do any level subject in any year as long as you meet prerequisites and you're allowed to take it

Best to check with your Faculty. For the Bachelor of Science, you are required to complete 4 subjects at Level 1 before a Level 2 subject. I'm not sure if they have similar rules for other degrees.
Progression: Students must complete at least 50 science points at Level 1 before proceeding to Level 2 science subjects;

There are exceptions to the rule. For example, first years like tram that are doing Vector Calculus in first semester of their degree.

umm pretty sure that is not a rule at all, you can enroll in whatever subjects you like that you meet the prerequisites for.. i've enrolled in more level 2 subjects in science than level 1 and haven't completed "50 science points" :p silly melbs.

Hehe that's because you did Uni chem which is about 20 points
(And yes, of course there are exceptions for high achieving students)

I'm pretty sure it could also be because the EPSC is inept.
-
That is far more likely to be the case, yes
-
The thing is, I very much doubt they'd notice. Just enrol in the subject and who's going to know? I'm doing two level 2 subjects this year and I didn't ask anyone, I just took the subjects.
-
Yeah, thats perfectly fine to do. I only wish more people knew this so they wouldn't have to restrict themselves as much.
I'm fairly sure no one actually checks what subjects you're doing, it's up to you (like a lot of things at uni i've noticed). The only time they do check is when you apply to graduate and they make sure you've done all the course requirements, otherwise no one really checks and takes you up on it.
