Title: Study during the term holidays?
Post by: andyzpipe on June 28, 2011, 05:00:48 pm
Well , i was just wondering how the year 12s would approach studies during the term break holidays , i mean , would you go full on with studies during the holidays, chill+some study , or just completely take no seriousness to it and just relax. Just a curious question..

well i'm planning to get heaps done but i also have a tendency to procrastinate. I'll just need to focus.
So I guess semi-full on with mah studies, may take a break or two for some days but I really don't wanna slack off and fall behind.

Take a couple of days to relax and get straight into studying! Haha, the more you do in the term holidays, the less stress and need to cram at the end of term three. :)

It is year 12. I will try and study everyday (something non-existent on previous years, where it would all be in the last 3 days)
However, I won't be studying all day, ill set a maximum of 4 hours :D :crazy2:

Not quite, we haven't finished either. Have the two weeks break now and the three weeks one next term... :)

Since I have burnt myself out for the third time this year, i'm having a break for a couple of days before falt out for another couple, then a break in the middle and then moderatly run myself back into term 3. But this is what i get for finishing methods a month ago and nearly finishing chem and spec. Ah well, 13 or something more weeks and it's all over, this is the twelve weeks that counts, as long as I can stay sane in the meantime.

I plan to wake up early each day and do a few hours of study. Hopefully, this will keep me from sleeping in and ruining my sleep cycle. And I'll still have the rest of the day to go out. It's not as if I'd be able to do work after going out anyway, and I don't usually go out before 11 or so. Gives me a few hours.

Sounds like a good idea, I might do that too :D I've found that heading out early and studying in some coffee shop whilst waiting for friends works well too :) pretty quiet in the morning; the business men/women don't make much noise in the cafes haha.

The other (apparent) benefit of studying in a coffee shop/public place is that you feel obliged to work. I always drag myself to the State Library, even though it's about 45 minutes away. See, it's worth it, because if I stay home, no one's watching me or judging me if I collapse back into bed right after my 9 AM breakfast! In public, however, where everyone else is typing away on their laptops and looking super serious, I feel as if I have to do work too. XD

Yes, definitely, or else you look completely out of place... haha. I tend to avoid state these days though, easy place to socialise because everyone tends to be there not to mention the youngsters seem to have deemed state as their 'hang out' place as well. Becomes rather noisy especially right after lunch. Have you tried city lib, flinders lane? In my opinion, better place to study if you're an early bird :)

Now everyone knows about it!

I do find it a bit hard to find a seat after lunch at State, so that's fair enough. Might try City Library these holidays. Less hipsters?

Oops, didn't catch that! Gosh am I slow.... D:

Distracting everyone's attention away from it....

Try Emily's place right next to boost outside MC, it's a nice coffee shop to study in. Small but comfortable! Customers tend to be quiet. Not to mention, there are powerpoints at the back if you need to use power as well. :)

Ok going to shush about places to study now or else I'll certainly spoil it for everyone ):

Seem to be veering off topic. Anyone going to attempt to finish the course for any of their subjects/attending lectures during the term break?

Want to do a lot of methods and chem (course finishing maybe?), and catch-up on my spesh workload. Might write some english essays too.

Yup! I will definitely finish my Accounting coursework required for all of Unit 4 and maybe if I have enough time, start practice exams for Accounting. Otherwise if I'm not doing practice exams, I'll start revising through the whole accounting course.
I'll also try to get a head start in psychology and probably write a couple english essays.

Hoping to finish methods too! As for chem, might have a tough time doing so as it's one of my weaker subjects but will attempt to as well :) Have an overload of sacs first/second week back... Left econ behind ever since mid years as well (doesn't it sound like such a long time ago?), so have will have a pretty intense few days catching up and hopefully reach a point where I can work ahead. Time to knuckle down! Haha, whilst leaving time for all those 18ths, is it just me or does there seem to be a great load of babies born in june-july-august?!

Yep, will be doing the same for English, I have to write faster! Currently sitting at 65-75 mins per essay... on a good day.

If last holidays were any indication of how much work I'll actually do, I don't think I'll be getting much done :)
I need to actually start writing english essays again, I haven't written any since our SACs...
