I was a fool; I chose Methods. (I'm a humanities person, I have no idea what possessed me...)
It's an understatement to say that I'm not doing so well. I'm averaging 67% with SAC marks. (we've only done two, and that's what I got on both)
I was just wondering if I can perhaps lift my average to a 70, what kind of study score can I expect? Obviously I don't have high hopes, but this could be the difference between acceptance into my first preference or not.
Any ideas?

28-30, which wud get scaled to like 34-35.
-
30ish i reckon
-
it depends on where you rank, and how well you and your cohort is likely to perform on the end of year exam.
-
Late twenties to early thirties, that's better than I would have expected. Somewhat of a relief, I must admit.
In my school, which has about 50 methods students, I'm just above average.
-
I was wondering the same question - except, you're doing a lot better compared to me :) I hope my scores will make you more confident :P
This is the breakdown of my marks:
Sac 1 [10%] - I got 60%
Sac 2 [40%] - I got 42% (Ouch...)
Sac 3 [10%] - I got 60%.
If I continue getting around 60% - 70% for my sacs and get around 65% to 75% in both my papers, would you be able to predict me a methods SS? In my cohort i'm below average by about 10% in sacs. I just want over 25 to get into Commerce/Arts at Monash. I would be thrilled if I could scrape a 30 or very low 30's.
Yes, I am such an idiot for chosing methods when I am clearly a humanities girl. ARGH. A little too late to regret now.
-
methods gets scaled up a helpfully decent amount. i did fairly average, and shit at the start of the year, but ended up with a 33 (scaled 39)
i was getting 50-60 percent for a few sacs in a row too. the good thing about methods is that you can cram it quite effectively (imo)
if you think you need to improve, the 'too late to improve' point is quite late! just from my experience.

Lol, my Methods is terrible! D+'s for all the SAC's I have completed thus far. Hopefully, I can get a 20 or something, or, if something extravagant happens, high 20's? I just don't want to see a UG in Methods! Ultimate hopes and dreams crusher! :'(

don't worry, the bottom 25% or so [who get below 25] aren't very good at all. I heard someone say one year 20% on the exams would get you 25 raw

Don't worry. Methods can count as your 5th or 6th subject. Therefore what's the different between 2.0 and 3.0 in your aggregate? Not much (I think).
-
yeah, im shit at methods too...humanities ftw!!!!!
my sacs have been shit. most of them im right on the yr level average and there is roughly 100 methods students...but im not too fussed i have latin and my enhancement subject to compensate...hopefully

Do you need a study score higher than 25 in Methods to get into the course you want?

Well, not me. No humanities courses even require you to study a maths. There was no need for me to do a maths at all (or a science - which I decided ages ago to not do).

Can be quite a bit when you get into the stratospheric 98+ range.

Which I won't get, so who cares?
I just want this bloody year to be over and done with.

i so agree with that.

If I got 1 aggregate higher, my enter would have *just* made it up to the next 0.05 bracket, and I got 98+ :P

trust me i know what your going through- i too have regrets, i mean if i just stuck to GM i would have aced it.

You're not a fool! Mathematical knowledge is a good world skill to have. You know (hopefully) that rates play a big part in every day life. I've used related rates equations before in my every day life to help me! I.E. I calculated how long it takes to fill my bath on full so that I can do other stuff whilst it's filling and not have it overflow. Yes, I'm a complete nerd. :P
-
LOL aw shit. Now I'm always gonna think of you as the owner of VN who runs his bath (testing the temperature of the water to get it just right)with his little rubber duck floating around.

Do you really need Methods for that?
Time how long it takes to fill a cup of a known volume. Measure the volume of your bath (or estimate it, using its dimensions -- rectangular prism will be a decent approximation), then it's a simple division from there.
-
Lol Coblin, that is the exact mathematical theory which I struggle at!
Do you need a study score higher than 25 in Methods to get into the course you want?
I don't really need mathematics for the course I want to do. I guess it would have been nice to do a subject which I was good at, and could excel at, rather than just picking something for the extra scaling, which doesn't count for much if I get an inferior study score in it :'(

I think I'm in love with you.

Or else just use a stopwatch to time it and record through what angle the tap has been rotated. You can use this angle next time and you will always know how long it will take. As an additional exercise, see (through small experiments) if water flow is proportional to some function of the angle through which the tap is rotated. Then you can estimate how long it will take to fill for all rotations.
-
or, just turn the tap on and be normal

you guys take baths?

I hear washing is the latest craze in Europe.

Baths are therapeutic.

yay, go baths :D

lol it's called a shower :P

soo, if you stuff up your sacs..like big time, theres no way you can get 40+?
i stuffed mine up but im fairly confident still of doing pretty well in the exams, that should be good enough shouldnt it?
